<h2><strong>About the role</strong></h2><p>Simulation is a core piece of how Muon gets things done. We have a simulation ecosystem that’s used for systems engineering, GNC (Guidance, Navigation and Control) development, operations planning, ground system planning, spacecraft scheduling, model fitting, flight software testing, and hardware testing. The same power model used when proposing a vehicle design to a customer is what we’ll use when running hardware-in-the-loop on nightlies of flight software once we have the real hardware in house, and it’s the same system the automated scheduler will use when deciding if a schedule is power-positive. Helping drive the development of a system this flexible is a challenge with a lot of leverage.</p><h2><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h2><ul><li>Enable simulation as a key component in the planning, development, production, and scaling of the hardware and software components of running spacecraft</li><li>Develop high fidelity simulation of spacecraft hardware and software and how they interact with the physical environment</li><li>Build cloud-capable simulation services to simulate a broad range of scenarios</li><li>Support the integration of simulation in other systems: software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, operations-in-the-loop, scheduling, maneuver planning, ground system planning, monitoring and mission analysis</li><li>Refine requirements for, design, scope, plan, and execute on major simulation software initiatives</li><li>Push the boundaries of the state of the art in spacecraft simulation, developing systems that can keep Muon at the forefront of advanced spacecraft design and operation</li></ul><h2><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>Minimum of 5 years of experience</li><li>Substantial experience modeling different classes of dynamics in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering</li><li>Ability to apply different modeling philosophies as-needed including data-driven, first-principle, and parameter-fitting</li><li>Broad knowledge of computational mathematics: differential equations, statistics, optimization, and geometry</li><li>A deep understanding of numerical methods</li><li>High productivity in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with many collaborating teams</li></ul><h2><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>Experience using simulation and emulation to develop and test code, such as hardware in the loop, software in the loop testing, or simulated fault injection in automated testing.</li><li>Experience using logs and observability of systems for automating testing and analysis of real performance for diagnosing faults and improving simulation fidelity</li><li>Experience with Julia, C++, and/or Python</li><li>Experience with distributed system design, cloud computing, API design, web APIs and reusable components</li></ul><h2><strong>Salary</strong></h2><p><span style="font-size:12pt;">The salary range for this role is $184,000 - $208,000 plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package.
