Be on the team that's changing the world. What we’re looking for: Nexamp is looking to hire a Lead Commissioning Engineering to join it's Clean Energy Deployment team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Nexamp projects are safely and reliably energized on schedule, moving through project milestones, including, Mechanical Completion (MC), Permission to Operate (PTO) and Substantial Completion (SC). You will leverage deep SCADA and data acquisition expertise across utility-scale and distributed generation projects to validate that assets perform as modeled and as represented to financing partners, banks, and utilities, and to close gaps in our growing SCADA pipeline. By owning the technical review and implementation of SCADA and related controls, you will help turn projects on, maintain critical deadlines, and confirm that operational performance aligns with contractual, market, and internal performance requirements. We are supporting hybrid work out of either our Boston, Chicago, or NYC offices. You will report to the Director, Commissioning Engineering. What you’ll do:<ul><li>Independently leading the commissioning of PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from pre-energization through project operational turnover.</li><li>Acting as a primary troubleshooting resource for the Commissioning Engineering and Field Commissioning teams, providing expert level support on common electrical, protection, and SCADA/communications issues surfaced during commissioning and early operations.</li><li>Managing project commissioning schedules in partnership with Deployment, SCADA, Engineering, and external contractors, ensuring that inverter, DAS, SCADA, BESS, and protection system commissioning stays aligned with construction and interconnection milestones.</li><li>Providing remote support and occasional field support for DAS, inverter, BESS and SCADA commissioning as well as witness tests.</li><li>Reviewing and validating site performance of assets once live, including managing or executing performance testing and identifying and troubleshooting underperformance.</li><li>Lead Data Acquisition System (DAS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system design for PV, BESS, and hybrid PV+BESS (DC- and AC-coupled) projects, including interpreting market, utility, and ISO SCADA/telemetry and controls requirements and coordinating the procurement and installation of required telecom, hardware, and software infrastructure.</li><li>Assist in the development of SCADA engineering standards for utility scale applications.</li><li>Mentor and train junior commissioning team members and field technicians to increase their capabilities.</li><li>Support continuous improvement of networking equipment, products, and quality assurance processes by conducting research, contributing to commissioning best-practices documentation, and actively sharing experience and best practices.</li></ul>What you’ll bring: <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education/certification background.</li><li>At least 7 years of experience designing and commissioning electrical power systems, or network design.</li><li>At least 4 years of experience in renewables such as Solar, Wind, and Storage, </li><li>Experience in controls engineering for utility-scale renewable/hybrid energy, PV/BESS, (AC-coupled/DC-coupled systems) preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of inverter parameter setting procedures.</li><li>Knowledge and experience with technical communications protocols (Modbus/TCP, DNP3.0, etc.), commonly used controls software/hardware platforms, and communication standards (MESA, Sunspec, etc.).</li><li>Working knowledge and hands-on experience with various relays, meters, SCADA Gateways, and Data Concentrators, experience with programming of RTACs, preferred.</li><li>Expertise in commissioning and resolving site technical issues, proven success in independently troubleshooting challenging SCADA related technical issues.</li><li>MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency.</li><li>Knowledge of industry standard design codes and electrical engineering and relaying principles.</li><li>Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.   </li><li>Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan.
