We are the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets, which provide a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuels.</p></div><p>The Assistant Shift Supervisor provides support to the shift supervisor, ensures the team meets shift production goals, back up team leader.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Work with all team members in each area in day-to-day operations.</li><li>Fill in areas when personnel are absent if staffing is not available.</li><li>Train new hires when needed.   </li><li>Back up team leader on all fronts of Pellet Mill/ Hammermill operation.</li><li>Follow up on daily shift testing to make sure within spec and if not communicate to the team leader.</li><li> Should own the 5s procedure with all that applies.</li><li>Must be able to multitask by balancing multiple items throughout the process.</li><li>Perform/coordinate housekeeping daily/weekly for shift swaps to maintain to required standard, also walk with Safety manager during housekeeping audit monthly.  </li><li>Escalate issues promptly for proper resolution</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude</li><li>Ability to develop and maintain accurate records</li><li>Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions</li><li>Proficient in mathematics and measurements</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications - What Sets You Apart</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in a pellet manufacturing environment preferred</li><li>Ability to develop and maintain accurate records</li><li>Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions</li><li>High School degree or equivalent</li></ul><p><strong>Working conditions</strong></p><ul><li>Must be available to work any shift/any day required; overtime is frequent</li><li>Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.</li><li>Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.</li><li>Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft</li><li>Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs</li><li> Able to frequently walk or stand in addition to the capability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis</li><li> Must use required/provided PPE (i.e. safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots &amp; hearing protection)</li></ul><div><p>This position is not eligible for visa support.</p><p><strong>EEO Statement </strong></p><p>Enviva is dedicated to the principles of equal employment opportunity (EEO) in any term, condition or privilege of employment.
