Division               Urban DevelopmentLocation              Cape Town     REPORTS TOSection Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSETo prepare final layout and detail drawings for building structures and civil structures.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Management of small projects and write technical reports</li><li>Skill transfer to junior personnel</li><li>Draft bid responses and Price estimations</li><li>Quality control throughout the project life cycle</li><li>Ensure that appropriate technical standards and quality assurance requirements are adhered to</li><li>Apply a deeper understanding of engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems</li><li>Supervision of drawing production ensuring appropriate technical standards</li><li>Be a member of a multi-disciplinary team in project delivery</li><li>Provide technical support and guidance to peers and other functional groups within relevant level of expertise</li><li>Ensuring SMEC’s quality standards and management systems are adhered to</li><li>Improve and standardise the implementation of training, design processes and output, implementation procedures and quality control in order to improve efficiency and design standards within the discipline</li><li>Responsible for stakeholder liaison in projects, regarding own portion of work</li><li>Good software tool understanding, works alone with minimum supervision whilst producing tool deliverables</li><li>Taking ownership and responsibility for his/her own work and completing it to time and cost</li><li>Accuracy of drawings and meeting set deadlines</li><li>Ability to work independently</li></ul>RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE<ul><li>BEng or B.Tech Degree at an accredited institution in Civil Engineering</li><li>Minimum of 3 years’ experience in design</li><li>Proficiency in Civil 3D</li><li>Proficiency in Idas and BIM360 will be an advantage</li><li>Understands the principles of the design process and how design is translated into deliverables through the use of software tools</li><li>Proficiency in designing and detailing municipal civil services</li><li>Can make good decisions on own initiative</li><li>Ability to draft technical reports of acceptable technical presentational quality</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the principles of the design process and how design is translated into deliverables through use of software tools</li></ul>SMEC is committed to developing its people by providing opportunities for growth and success, with hiring based on skills and experience to ensure fairness.
