We are seeking an experienced Public Works Inspector to support highway, bridge, and rail transportation projects in Orange, CA or Los Angeles, CA on a part-time or on-call basis. The inspector will monitor construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable public works standards.This role requires field experience inspecting transportation infrastructure projects and the ability to document contractor work, identify issues, and coordinate with project engineers and contractors to maintain quality and compliance.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Perform field inspections of highway, bridge, and/or rail construction activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements.</li><li>Observe and document contractor work including grading, concrete placement, structural components, drainage, utilities, track work, and related infrastructure.</li><li>Monitor construction materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.</li><li>Prepare daily inspection reports, field notes, and photographic documentation of construction progress.</li><li>Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and project managers to resolve field issues.</li><li>Verify quantities of installed work and assist with documentation for progress payments if required.</li><li>Identify potential safety concerns or non-conforming work and report findings to project management.</li><li>Attend project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders as needed.</li></ul>
