Your responsibilities will also include conducting field inspections and engaging in materials characterization and specialized testing.</p><h2>You will be responsible for</h2><ul> <li>Conduct hands-on failure analysis to determine root causes of material failures</li> <li>Perform materials characterization and metallurgical analysis using laboratory equipment</li> <li>Plan, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing to support investigations and assessments</li> <li>Conduct field inspections to gather data and evaluate material conditions in real-world environments</li> <li>Generate written work products, including PowerPoint presentations and detailed technical reports, to document findings and communicate results.</li> <li>Effectively present results to both technical and non-technical clients and staff</li> <li>Manage the day-to-day requirements of multiple investigative engagements, maintaining organization and efficiency across projects</li></ul><h2>You will have the following skills and qualifications</h2><ul> <li>Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on materials science and engineering</li> <li>Proficient knowledge of materials characterization techniques, such as SEM, EDS, optical microscopy, CT, X-ray, FTIR, and XRD</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and effective information exchange within the team and with clients</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively within project teams, demonstrating a strong desire to contribute and support team objectives</li> <li>Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support project requirements</li> <li>Desired knowledge includes expertise in metallurgy, fracture mechanics, fractography, and failure analysis</li> <li>Familiarity with materials degradation mechanisms, including corrosion, is also preferred</li></ul><p> </p><p><em>Applicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].</em></p><h2>Life @ Exponent</h2><p>To learn more about life at Exponent and our impact, please visit the following links:https://www.exponent.com/careers/life-exponent https://www.exponent.com/company/our-impact</p><p> </p><p>Attracting, inspiring, developing, and rewarding exceptional people with diverse backgrounds and expertise are central to our corporate culture. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
