Join AECOM's Civil Engineer - Highway / Transportation Design Team in Pittsburgh, PA to work on a variety of challenging and interesting projects.  Projects range from roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation planning studies.  The Pittsburgh team is part of our Greater Pennsylvania Area (GPA) which has close to 90 Engineers and nearly 30 experienced Project Managers who will help support and mentor you for career growth!Recent notable projects include:<ul><li>I-80 Reconstruction (Jefferson County, PA) - Six-mile section of rural interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, interchange ramp improvements, and reconstruction of two overhead bridges.</li><li>I-70 Reconstruction (Washington County, PA) - Model-based delivery project for a six-mile section of rural interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, interchange ramp improvements, and reconstruction of 18 structures through the corridor.</li><li>W Washington St Reconstruction (Bradford, PA) - Drainage model-based delivery pilot project for a one-mile section of urban corridor, including full depth roadway reconstruction, sidewalk improvements and drainage upgrades.</li></ul>The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details</li><li>Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs</li><li>Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates</li><li>Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques</li><li>Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards</li><li>Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures</li><li>Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews</li><li>Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget</li><li>Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations</li><li>Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.</li><li>Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers</li><li>Minimal travel of up to 5 - 10% for client meetings or site visits.</li></ul>Attributes<ul><li>Independently analyzes and applies solutions to challenging issues within area of expertise by applying critical thinking</li><li>Applies broad knowledge of at least one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical and operational practices</li><li>Prepares project deliverables that are reviewed by senior team members</li><li>Obtains technical certificates and licenses, where applicable</li><li>Contributes in one or more areas of knowledge, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions where precedent may not exist</li><li>Performs a self-check of work products prior to submitting to others</li><li>Performs technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures</li><li>Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programs</li><li>Work is accomplished autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects within established procedures and practices</li><li>Generally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leads</li><li>Begins to interact directly with client to gather information and </li></ul>
