<div>Systems Engineer is responsible for leading project development, technical support for sales, and system optimization for assigned BoxPower microgrid opportunities. The role may include owning specific feasibility studies and developing the core technical deliverables that inform customer proposals and project direction, including system sizing, system architecture and platforms, conceptual layouts, single-line diagrams, PV production modeling, and Homer-based microgrid modeling. This position works closely with Sales, Estimating, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, Project Engineering, and external partners to evaluate project viability, shape system concepts, and support successful proposal execution. Other work may include site visits and continuous improvement of tools, templates, and internal processes. This role reports to the Solutions and Estimation Manager. This role has no direct reports. This role is hybrid or remote to BoxPower HQ in Grass Valley, CA.   Key Responsibilities:  <ul><li>Lead technical feasibility studies for prospective BoxPower microgrid projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Support Sales on customer opportunities, RFPs, RFQs, and early-stage solution development. </li></ul><ul><li>System sizing, architecture, and platforms. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop conceptual site layouts and equipment arrangements for microgrid systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Create and update electrical single-line diagrams for proposal and feasibility packages. </li></ul><ul><li>Identify opportunities for cost engineering of designs </li></ul><ul><li>Perform performance modeling: PV production modeling to support energy estimates and system sizing. </li></ul><ul><li>Build and refine Homer microgrid models to evaluate system performance, dispatch strategy, and economics. </li></ul><ul><li>Coordinate with internal subject matter experts and external vendors to validate technical assumptions and equipment selections. </li></ul><ul><li>Support cost estimation by translating technical concepts into scope, equipment, and design inputs. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare clear technical documentation and review materials for internal and external stakeholders. </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in site visits and field assessments as needed to inform system design and project risk evaluation. </li></ul><ul><li>Improve templates, workflows, and modeling/design standards to increase team efficiency and consistency. </li></ul>  Required Qualifications: <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering or related technical field. </li></ul><ul><li>3+ years of experience in system design, sales engineering, applications engineering, or distributed energy projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience developing technical feasibility studies and proposal support materials. </li></ul><ul><li>Working knowledge of solar PV, Battery Energy Storage or Generator-based power systems. Microgrid experience a plus.  </li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency creating layouts and electrical single-line diagrams. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with PV modeling tools and methods. PVsyst modeling experience a plus. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with energy modeling. Homer modeling experience a plus. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong Excel and technical documentation skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both internal teams and customer-facing stakeholders. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple opportunities in parallel. </li></ul><ul><li>Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, customer meetings, or internal reviews.  </li></ul><ul><li>Experience supporting proposal development in a fast-paced growth environment. </li></ul>  Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>5+ years of experience with commercial, industrial, community, government, and utility or remote power system applications. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience in solar-plus-storage, off-grid, or resiliency-focused microgrid design. </li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with utility interconnection considerations, load analysis, and generator integration. </li><li>Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools </li><li>Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards relevant to distributed energy systems.  </li><li>Knowledge of construction standards and best practices.</li></ul></div>
