Senior Transportation Engineer

This role plays a critical part in shaping how complex infrastructure is delivered, bridging engineering, development, and construction teams to translate technical transportation analyses into actionable, buildable solutions. You’ll guide transportation planning from initial site evaluation through construction start, managing external consultants, aligning internal stakeholders, and partnering with contractors and public agencies to ensure transportation considerations are fully embedded in project execution. Team Overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect’s mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by translating early-stage project concepts into fully engineered, buildable designs. The Development Engineering team operates at the center of project execution—partnering closely with Development, Construction, and external stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges and enable high-quality, scalable infrastructure delivery. Joining this team means working on first-of-a-kind projects with meaningful impact, while growing alongside a collaborative, forward-thinking group of engineers and builders. What You’ll DoLead Transportation Strategy<ul><li>Own transportation planning and traffic study coordination from early-stage development through construction start across multiple projects</li><li>Define routing, site access, and infrastructure strategies that align with project schedules, constructability, and cost considerations</li><li>Ensure transportation scope is fully integrated into project development, EPC contracting, and execution plans</li></ul> Manage Studies and Technical Analysis<ul><li>Oversee external consultants conducting transportation engineering studies, road surveys, and traffic impact analyses</li><li>Review and validate technical outputs, including traffic flow modeling, routing feasibility, and infrastructure constraints</li><li>Translate study findings into clear, actionable recommendations for design and execution teams</li></ul> Drive Infrastructure and Logistics Planning<ul><li>Develop strategies for roadway and intersection upgrades, congestion mitigation, and public infrastructure improvements</li><li>Support construction logistics and traffic management planning to ensure safe and efficient project delivery</li><li>Identify site access challenges and real estate requirements tied to transportation routes</li></ul> Coordinate Cross-Functional Alignment<ul><li>Partner with Development, Engineering, Construction, Permitting, and Community Engagement teams to align on transportation strategy</li><li>Collaborate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and construction teams to ensure plans are practical and executable</li><li>Conduct site visits to validate assumptions and align transportation planning with field conditions</li></ul> Engage External Stakeholders and Agencies<ul><li>Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and other agencies to align on study requirements and outcomes</li><li>Support permitting processes by responding to transportation-related comments and providing technical documentation</li><li>Contribute to road use agreements and external approvals tied to transportation scope</li></ul> Ensure Quality, Budget, and Schedule Alignment<ul><li>Perform QA/QC on third-party deliverables to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements</li><li>Support budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling for transportation-related scope, including infrastructure improvements and mitigation measures</li><li>Apply a commercial mindset to balance technical rigor with cost and timeline considerations</li></ul> What You’ll Bring <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field</li><li>7+ years of civil engineering experience, including at least 2+ years focused on transportation engineering and traffic studies</li><li>Experience managing transportation or traffic impact studies and coordinating with external consultants and public agencies</li><li>Familiarity with traffic analysis methodologies, roadway design considerations, and construction logistics planning</li><li>Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects will help you ramp quickly</li><li>Strong project management skills, including ownership of scope, schedule, and budget across multiple concurrent efforts</li><li>Ability to interpret complex technical analyses and translate them into practical, real-world decisions with a commercial lens</li><li>Experience working cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders, balancing technical and non-technical perspectives</li><li>Clear and effective communication skills across technical teams, contractors, and external agencies</li><li>High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of critical project requirements</li><li>A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and collaborative work style that will help you succeed in a fast-paced, evolving environment</li></ul> Total Rewards Compensation: $180,000 - $200,000 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus in USD)<div> </div>At Intersect, we care about your well-being, growth, and balance.
