The Digital Practice and Technology Team is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Survey Crew Chief for immediate employment in the Columbia, SC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Land Surveying specific to engineering consulting services. This opportunity affords the ideal candidate the following:<ul><li>Exposure to a variety of large and complex projects including, but not limited to, Transportation projects, Water projects, Site Civil projects and more.</li><li>Exposure to multiple industry/business line sectors.</li><li>Access to new and state of the art equipment to complete surveying functions.</li><li>Opportunities for upward advancement and career growth.</li></ul>Primary job functions include but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>Responsible for operation and care of all survey instruments including Total Station, level, and GPS.</li><li>Will be responsible for performing property surveys, topographic surveys, construction stakeout and other survey projects for private, government and commercial clients.</li><li>Read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and drawings and records.</li><li>Use appropriate survey equipment, conventional, GPS/GNSS and laser scanning, to efficiently and accurately perform a wide range of field survey procedures.</li><li>Take survey field notes, sketches, and other written records on a daily basis.</li><li>Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with team members and clients.</li><li>Perform QA/QC to verify that the data complies with the project requirements.</li><li>Performs basic maintenance of the survey field equipment and understand its operation.</li><li>Keep survey field vehicle in good condition.</li><li>Understand and follow all applicable safety procedures.</li><li>Supervises a one to two-person survey field crew</li><li>Directs survey field crew to complete field survey tasks, as required</li><li>Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and other drawings and records.</li><li>Capacity to actively investigate the presence of physical survey evidence in the field</li><li>Creates survey field notes, sketches and other written records on daily basis</li><li>Mentors and trains junior crew members</li><li>Prepares timesheet</li><li>Operates with a "team" attitude and communicates effectively</li><li>Understands and follows all applicable safety procedures</li><li>Relies on general to moderately complex knowledge of procedures, company policies, and business practices to plan and accomplish goals</li><li>At this level, incumbents normally can handle a wide range of relatively complex protocols; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience</li><li>Works under general supervision</li></ul>
