Job Summary Solar One’s Green Workforce program trains students in hard skills that align with the broader clean energy sector, including green construction, green building operations and maintenance, building electrification, HVAC, solar PV, and more. Solar One is seeking a Director of Training, Green Workforce to plan, develop, organize, and implement workforce development instruction, curriculum, and programming, both onsite at the Long Island City office and offsite at partner locations. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for the strategy and execution of both existing and future programming efforts. Main job responsibilities: <ul style='\"margin-top:' margin-bottom:> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Develop program and curriculum design. Analyze current curriculum and develop, design, or modify programs to ensure effectiveness and relevance. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Remain current on trends and developments in educational techniques and technologies. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Research new markets for training and employment opportunities; collaborate with the managing director and development team to pursue and secure ways to fund and integrate new curriculum paths into Solar One’s broader course offerings. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Collaborate with the managing director by assisting with business development work, including but not limited to partnership outreach, account management, client meetings and communication, and networking events. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the Green Workforce program’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated, leveraging data gathered to make informed decisions about opportunities for improvement. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Conduct management of workforce training lab and two classroom spaces, which include but are not limited to: <ul> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Planning and executing projects to enhance the learning environment for students and continually improve overall space efficiency. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Purchase, maintain, and keep an inventory of program supplies. </li> </ul> </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Track and record all training activities and metrics related to individual classes and students in Salesforce, including but not limited to: attendance, grades, and completion rates. Create and maintain accurate reports for internal and external communications with staff and partners. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Oversees the daily workflow, scheduling, and operations of the Workforce Program. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Enforces safety and security standards for staff, students, and visitors. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Oversee weekly and monthly course scheduling and logistics throughout the program year. Share weekly schedules with the Green Workforce and Industry Engagement teams, assign instructors to specific rooms, and ensure there are enough staff to deliver scheduled programs. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Supervise three senior workforce instructors, two workforce instructors, and one program coordinator. Mentor instructional staff and seek opportunities to foster their interests. Develop staffing plans to ensure effective use of resources. Conduct performance evaluations. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Identify and maintain a list of independent contractors and support for the program. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Manage relationships and ensure the Green Workforce program is in good standing with the following bodies: EPA, BPI, NABCEP, Urban Green, NYC Dept. of Buildings, NCCER, and potentially more. This includes ensuring all data upkeep and report submission timelines are met in a timely manner to maintain approval status for each. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Collaborate with Sr. Director of Community Engagement on soft skills training needs, job fairs, and job placement activities. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Develop and maintain positive relationships with Solar One Partners. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Assist in the creation and implementation of the annual program budget. Monitor expense projections versus actuals monthly to ensure the program remains financially responsible. As needed, act as a backup or off-site workforce instructor. </li> </ul> Required Education and Experience <ul style='\"margin-top:' margin-bottom:> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif font-weight: bold> Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred in education or related fields. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Five to seven years of experience in program management in an educational environment or leading teams. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Five years of teaching experience with STEM, climate action, and/or environmental sustainability.
