Project                              Lesotho Highlands Water Project – Phase II - Polihali Transfer TunnelDivision                            WaterLocation                          Maseru, Lesotho and occasional at Katse or Polihali tunnel sites in the Lesotho HighlandsReports to the Joint Venture Policy Committee and the Client Management Team.Primary Position PurposeMSKC Joint Venture are the Professional Services Consultants for the design and construction supervision of the Polihali Transfer Tunnel Lesotho Highlands Water Project-Phase II project. The new Polihali Transfer Tunnel will connect the new Polihali Dam with the Katse Reservoir, which delivers water through Transfer and Delivery Tunnels, to the Ash River Outfall between Clarens and Bethlehem in South Africa.This position will be required to manage the project on behalf of the MSKC JV.High Level Role Description and Duties:<ul><li>You will be leading a dynamic team representing MSKC-JV who provide professional services for the design and construction supervision of the Polihali Transfer Tunnel for LHDA.</li><li>The position is full-time in Lesotho.</li><li>The incumbent should have experience in underground drill &amp; blast and Tunnel Boring Machine operations.</li><li>Reports to the Joint Venture Policy Committee and the Client management team.</li><li>You will be responsible for managing the Contract Administration under the Consultancy Contract.</li><li>Managing all aspects of the MSKC Joint Venture which includes managing change, cost, programme, resources, quality, procurement, risk management, stakeholders, etc.</li><li>Chairing meetings and regular reporting.</li></ul>Required Experience:<ul><li>Should have at a minimum of fifteen (15) years post graduate experience in civil engineering works at successive levels of responsibility including project management, design, and project development.</li><li>Management of water resource development involving design and construction for intakes, tunnels and related structures.</li><li>Should have at least five (5) years’ experience in FIDIC contracts.</li><li>Should have substantial experience of working in African and/or similar developing countries</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Must have a degree in Civil Engineering and be a Professional Engineer</li><li>Minimum of 5 years direct project management experience in the civil and/or Water projects.</li><li>(PMP) certification – would be an advantage</li><li>Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors.</li><li>Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, risk, and stakeholder expectations.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and proposal preparation.</li><li>High level of interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and in collaborative, high‑pressure environments</li></ul>SMEC is committed to supporting its people by providing opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
