With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.As a Mechanic on Via's Operations team, you'll be hands-on every day - diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the buses and support vehicles that keep our transit service running. This is a technical, floor-focused role for someone who takes pride in getting under the hood, solving problems the right way the first time, and keeping a fleet on the road safely and reliably.This is an in-person position with the expectation that you will be on-site 5 days per week. While standard schedules are provided, this role does require flexibility to work occasional evenings, Saturdays, and extended hours as business needs arise.What You'll Do:<ul><li>Perform routine preventive maintenance on transit vehicles and support equipment, including fluid changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, tire rotations, and scheduled service intervals </li><li>Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across engines, transmissions, braking systems, HVAC, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.</li><li>Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and DOT-compliant safety inspections, identifying defects and completing repairs in line with regulatory and manufacturer standards.</li><li>Respond to road calls and in-service breakdowns, troubleshooting issues on-site and coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to minimize service disruption.</li><li>Use automotive test equipment, diagnostic software, and manufacturer diagrams to isolate issues and verify repairs.</li><li>Complete accurate work orders and maintain detailed service records for each vehicle, including labor, parts used, and root-cause notes.</li><li>Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe: tools returned, fluids stored properly, and hazards addressed before they become issues.</li></ul>Who You Are:<ul><li>Vocational automotive training and hands-on experience in medium/heavy-duty vehicle maintenance (minimum 2 years preferred; transit bus or diesel experience a plus).</li><li>Hands-on problem solver who enjoys working on the floor, not behind a desk.</li><li>Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.</li><li>Proficient with diagnostic tools and comfortable learning new maintenance software.</li><li>Detail-oriented with documentation - work orders are closed out cleanly, records are accurate, and the next shift knows exactly what happened.</li><li>Comfortable with physical work, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varied shop conditions.</li></ul>Licenses and Certification Requirements:<ul><li>Hold a valid driver's license.</li><li>Hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.</li><li>ASE certifications strongly preferred (Medium/Heavy Truck or Transit Bus series — e.g., H-series or T-series).</li><li>CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement a plus (or willingness to obtain within a defined period post-hire).</li><li>At least 21 years old.</li><li>Successful completion of mandatory pre-employment drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check.</li><li>Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets.</li><li>Able to pass a pre-employment physical.</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits:<ul><li>Final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.
