This role focuses on identifying and implementing capacity improvement opportunities, conducting yield analysis, and leading yield improvement initiatives. The engineer defines equipment requirements and specifications, and evaluates processing techniques used in the manufacture, fabrication, and testing of products. It also includes maintaining documentation and reporting systems (SPC) for manufacturing operations.This individual will further interact with logistical and business groups to accomplish the goals.This is a highly independent role with significant organizational impact, requiring data-driven decision-making to support operational success and company growth.Primary Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to review product and equipment designs for Design for Manufacturability (DFM).</li><li>Coach and support junior level engineers and technicians.</li><li>Continuously improve overall manufacturing efficiency through the development of new techniques and by incorporating feedback from assembly personnel and the Manufacturing team.</li><li>Identify and implement product design changes that enhance manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.</li><li>Provide support across all stages of the production process, from Receiving Inspection through final shipment.</li><li>Process Ownership: Act as the primary Process Owner for assigned production lines, and/or major Sub-assemblies, ensuring operational readiness, Training of technicians, resolving systemic issues, and maintaining all associated documentation. Utilize 5M methodology.</li><li>Be an active contributor in the MRB process. Process non-confirming reports with dispositions.</li><li>Focus on continuous improvement for output, yield, and cost reduction (Sustaining Engineering)</li><li>Equipment Specification: Author detailed technical specifications for custom automated equipment. Evaluate vendor capabilities and ensure designs meet safety, throughput, and precision requirements.</li><li>SOW &amp; Vendor Management: Draft comprehensive Statements of Work (SOW) for external integrators and equipment manufacturers. Act as the primary technical point of contact for vendor deliverables.</li><li>Equipment acceptance plan: Author detailed plans for the acceptances of any equipment at the manufactures site and at time of installation at Teledyne-FLIR.</li><li>Define and develop production equipment solutions for both low- and high-volume manufacturing environments.</li><li>Lead initiatives to evaluate and integrate new concepts, automation technologies, and innovative approaches for process development and improvement.</li><li>Create detailed Assembly and Test Instructions for the production of infrared (IR) camera systems.</li><li>Specify and/or design tooling and assembly methods to optimize production floor operations.</li><li>Compile and analyze test data to establish process parameters and material specifications.</li><li>Implement Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to improve product traceability and process control.</li><li>Generate rework instructions for non-conforming materials to ensure quality and minimize waste.</li><li>Develop new techniques for production, evaluating equipment manufacturer and process for qualification and implementation across the factory</li><li>Support disposition of obsolete equipment and its replacement with new equipment.</li></ul>Job Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.</li><li>More than seven years professional experience</li><li>Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and workflows.</li><li>Solid understanding of:<ul><li>Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis and hypothesis testing</li><li>Gauge Studies and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).</li><li>Calibration processes and industry standards</li><li>Equipment selection and qualification</li><li>Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&amp;T) and datum structures.</li></ul></li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.</li><li>Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with flexibility to support tasks beyond the Quality department as needed.</li><li>Willingness to travel 5–10% to supplier or customer locations.</li><li>Knowledge of ISO standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.</li><li>Familiarity with metrology and inspection methods, including contact and optical CMMs, handheld tools, and electronic test instruments.</li><li>Knowledge of audit processes and requirements.</li><li>Awareness of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controls and best practices.</li><li>Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)</li><li>Ability to sit and stand for several hours, ability to lift up to 25 lbs</li></ul>Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.  Salary Range: $113,600.00-$151,400.000Pay TransparencyThe anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
