Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. The Lead Engineer serves in lead roles providing guidance as well as coaching and mentoring of others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Achieve and maintain compliance with all Transmission Planning-applicable NERC Reliability Standards.</li><li>Ensure timely, high-quality filings on FERC Orders and provide impactful comments on NOPRs.</li><li>Assist with FRCC regulatory and compliance efforts, interfacing with FRCC staff and FRCC members.</li><li>Meet all Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) requirements for Transmission Planning, demonstrating strong knowledge of relevant state laws and regulations.</li><li>Participate on inter-utility system working groups and perform related studies.</li><li>Provide technical support to other areas of Transmission and the company on Transmission Planning-related regulatory and compliance issues.</li><li>Potentially serve as witness for FERC, NERC, state (e.g., rate cases and other need hearings), or local regulatory efforts.</li><li>Represent company on industry drafting teams shaping industry standards.</li><li>Support OATT activities, including wholesale planning project justification and 7-factor/Mansfield testing.</li><li>Support the company's goals and represent the company in a positive professional manner with customers, consultants, and utility peers.</li></ul><h2>Basic/Required Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and PE</li><li>Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience</li><li>Nuclear may require either Professional Engineer registration, a Masters Degree in a technical discipline,  SRO certification, an RO or SRO license, or Technical Nuclear certification.</li><li>A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.</li></ul><h2>Additional Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Experience in the utility industry</li><li>Knowledge and familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards</li><li>Knowledge of FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff requirements</li><li>Knowledge of FERC rules and orders</li><li>Experience working with legal documents</li><li>Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Experience in performing power flow, optimal power flow, and generator interconnection studies</li><li>Demonstrated work experience related to transmission or bulk power system operations</li><li>Proficient in engineering theories and principles</li><li>Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations</li><li>Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds</li><li>Effective interpersonal skills</li><li>Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to self-manage, set priorities, and establish goals</li></ul><h2>Working Conditions</h2><ul><li>Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
