We are seeking highly motivated and incredibly talented individuals who wish to contribute to our important mission.</p><h2>About the Team</h2><p>The Strategy team at Orenda leads the scouting, analysis, and validation of new investment opportunities. The team works cross-functionally with other business units to translate research findings into implementation plans that move opportunities from concept to scale. In addition, the team monitors policy developments in the markets where the company operates, forecasts their impact, and advocates for favorable changes.</p><h2>About the Role</h2><p>The Senior Energy Market Research Analyst is the engine of Orenda's market opportunity pipeline. You will research energy markets for new investment opportunities, monitor the markets on our watch list as they evolve, and build the foundation for every new investment strategy Orenda develops by delivering analysis that meets our investment standards.</p><p>This role exists because picking the right market is the most important decision in the development of a new investment strategy. Your work directly shapes which markets become the next new markets Orenda will enter in 2026 and beyond. You will report and partner closely with the CSO.</p><p><strong>This role is ideal for:</strong> a curious, technically deep market researcher who wants to own a function end to end and influence where a fast moving energy company places its bets next.</p><h2>What you'll do</h2><ul><li><strong>Research</strong> new energy markets to investigate potential new investment opportunities.</li><li><strong>Maintain</strong> the opportunity database so the Strategy team has a single and up-to-date source of truth for every market scanned, monitored, or archived.</li><li><strong>Monitor and forecast</strong> how market fundamentals will evolve, identify the drivers (policy, price, technology), and define the triggers that would confirm or invalidate each forecast.</li><li><strong>Deliver</strong> Feasibility Reviews against the company’s investment standards.</li><li><strong>Build and improve</strong> the processes that power this role: systematic investigation, forecasting, and Feasibility Reviews.</li></ul><h2>Requirements</h2><ul><li>3+ years of experience in market research, strategy, investment analysis, or a directly related discipline within the energy sector</li><li>Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field (engineering, math, physics, data science, or equivalent), or equivalent professional experience</li><li>Proficiency in at least one analytical environment (Python, R, or Matlab) for data manipulation and statistical analysis</li><li>Working knowledge of forecasting methods such as time series analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, scenario analysis, or sensitivity testing</li><li>Strong written communication, with the ability to turn unstructured research into structured documents decision makers can act on</li><li>Ability to operate in a fast moving environment with minimal supervision, balancing multiple workstreams against firm deadlines</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)</h2><ul><li>Advanced degree in engineering, economics, public policy, or a related quantitative field</li><li>Demonstrated track record of producing analysis that informed an investment, strategic, or policy decision</li><li>Prior experience scouting or evaluating opportunities in distributed energy resources, energy storage, or EV charging</li><li>Experience building or owning research processes and databases from scratch</li></ul><h2>Skills and Attributes</h2><ul><li><strong>Research-minded:</strong> investigates with genuine curiosity, sustains rigor across long tedious investigations, double checks surprising results, and holds a high standard even when no one is watching.</li><li><strong>Ramps quickly on unfamiliar markets:</strong> gets to a working understanding of a new market structure (e.g., a new ISO or a new revenue stack) within 1 to 2 weeks.</li><li><strong>Builds data driven forecasts:</strong> identifies market drivers (market data, policy signals, technology trajectories), builds predictive models to develop a forward view on the market, defines the triggers that would confirm or invalidate the forecast, and revises as new evidence arrives.</li><li><strong>Builds arguments on evidence:</strong> distinguishes what the data shows from what the data implies; is honest first and convincing second.</li><li><strong>Makes decisions under uncertainty:</strong> makes calibrated recommendations even with incomplete information, assigns confidence levels to claims and updates them as new evidence surfaces, and recognizes when a signal warrants escalation, a rescan, or continued monitoring.</li><li><strong>Turns research into actionable documents:</strong> writes structured findings a decision maker can act on, in formats matched to the reader's needs.</li></ul><h2>Work Environment</h2><p>This is a full time, in office position requiring work from our headquarters (Brooklyn, NY) five days a week, with regular travel to project sites within the NYC area.</p><h2>Why join Orenda?</h2><p>At Orenda, you'll help build the real world infrastructure that makes the energy transition possible.
