This engineer will be responsible for designing steel frame components to support Nextpower’s goal of leading industry-wide adoption of steel frame technology.Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:<ul><li>Contribute to new product development within the steel frame product line.</li><li>Support assessing manufacturability of proposed new steel frame designs. Travel to frame suppliers to learn how best to manufacture frames and propose new ideas and designs as a result.</li><li>Develop steel frame products and support engineering design work.</li><li>Support module factory compatibility. Visit module manufacturers to review their process and products. Translate those learnings into design work.</li><li>Support module test lab set up. Get test lab up and running and establish best practices. Engage in failure analysis. Help to communicate results.</li><li>Support competitive analysis and research of other steel frames on the market.</li><li>Contribute to concept development, design, and engineering for new and existing products, with a strong focus on manufacturability, scalability, and cost optimization.</li></ul>·       Perform and manage engineering work using CAD / FEA software to solve problems in mechanical / structural design, finite element analysis, design optimization, tolerance stack-ups, prototype generation, fatigue analysis, and production of manufacturing drawingsHere is some of what you’ll need (required):<ul><li>B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred)</li><li>3+ years of relevant experience</li><li>Toolsets required: SolidWorks, ePDM, FEA (ANSYS preferred)</li><li>Extensive knowledge/experience with drawings, model and tolerance standards and application.</li><li>Strong understanding of DFM for sheet metal stampings and roll-forming</li><li>Extensive knowledge of GD&amp;T standards, tolerance analysis</li><li>Experience in mass production manufacturing and part validation (Stampings/Rollings)</li><li>Strong aptitude and intuition in mechanical failure analysis</li><li>Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process</li><li>Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.</li></ul>Here are a few of our preferred experiences:<ul><li>Strong understanding of roll forming</li><li>Experience working in solar, preferably in module or racking design</li><li>Hands-on background in prototyping, pilot runs, and production ramp-up.</li><li>Confluence, Arena, Miro (Real Time board), Jira</li></ul>At Nextpower, we are leading in the energy transition, providing the most comprehensive portfolio of intelligent solar tracker and software solutions for solar power plants, as well as strategic services to capture the full value of solar power plants for our customers.
