The Planned Giving Officer serves as the initial point of contact for prospects and applies working knowledge of revocable deferred gifts to perform deep discovery and qualification work. Working in coordination with the wider development team, this role is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned giving donors. </div><div> </div><div>This is a non-supervisory position. The Planned Giving Officer I is expected to work a full-time (37.5 hours/week) schedule and may work hybrid or remote from the following locations: Strong preference for Seattle, WA, open to San Francisco, CA. </div><div> </div><div>Travel for donor meetings, donor events, trainings, and internal team meetings, up to 25%. </div><div> </div>What You'll Do<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Fundraising (60%)</span></p><ul><li>Build and maintain an active portfolio of 80+ donors and prospects, developing specific plans for their qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.</li><li>Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries via phone, email, and mail, applying planned giving knowledge to engage supporters in substantive conversations about their giving.</li><li>Strategically manage relationships with Top Tier Evergreen Council members with provisions of $1M and up, recommending appropriate stewardship levels. </li></ul><div><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Planning, Research and Data Management (30%)</span></div><div><ul><li>Maintain a strong working knowledge of programmatic priorities to educate donors, and research legacy prospects to inform engagement strategies.</li><li>Manage all donor information and interaction notes in the CRM database, adhering to the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.</li><li>Ensure all aspects of gift creation and administration align with IRS regulations, ethical standards, and organizational gift acceptance policies.</li></ul></div><div><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Collaboration (10%) </span></div><div><ul><li>Stewardship work is performed in coordination with the Stewardship Specialist, Planned Giving and is a highly collaborative effort.</li><li>Working together with the Stewardship Specialist, Planned Giving, design, plan, and execute one lunch event per year for supporters in your region.</li><li>Actively collaborate with other individual giving officers in the Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions, including colleagues from our major giving and mid-level giving programs, to create regional expertise and seamless supporter engagement. </li></ul></div><div><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ongoing Learning </span></div><div> </div><div><ul><li>Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of learning by building skills and sharing knowledge.</li><li>Keep up- to- date on tax law and planned giving trends through conferences, professional journals, and peer consultations. </li></ul></div><div>Please note that the percentage breakdowns provided above serve as a guideline and that other duties may be assigned as part of the job’s requirements. </div><div> </div>What You'll Bring<ul><li>3-5 years of fundraising experience in an individual giving role; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. </li><li>Demonstrated success using interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact to build strong relationships with donors and staff.</li><li>Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
