Position DescriptionPosition Title: Donor Engagement and Fundraising InternGroup: DevelopmentLocation: Remote, USA (excluding New York state)Reports To: Development SpecialistStatus: Part-time, non-exemptDuration: 3 months (10-20 hours/week)Position Summary:The Donor Engagement and Fundraising Intern will support Winrock International’s Development team with donor research, data management, donor profile development, proposal support, and donor-facing communications. The internship requires a dynamic, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an independent, engaged self-starter who is eager to gain hands-on experience and develop in-depth knowledge of the international development field. This internship offers meaningful exposure to fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with portfolio and program teams, while supporting efforts to communicate Winrock’s mission and impact to external audiences.Essential Responsibilities      1. Donor Research &amp; Prospect Development<ul><li>Support the Development Specialist and Director of Major Gifts with research on prospective individual, foundation, and institutional donors</li><li>Compile and synthesize information into donor profiles, prospect briefs, and portfolio materials</li><li>Support identification of new funding opportunities aligned with Winrock’s programs and strategic priorities</li><li>Assist with maintaining accurate and current donor and prospect records</li></ul>      2. Data Entry &amp; Database Support<ul><li>Support the Development Specialist with maintaining donor, prospect, and engagement data in Winrock’s donor database or CRM</li><li>Support data quality and data hygiene efforts, including reviewing records for accuracy and completeness</li><li>Assist with preparing basic reports, lists, and tracking tools for Development team use</li></ul>      3. Communications &amp; Donor-Facing Materials<ul><li>Support Development staff in developing clear, compelling communications to be shared with donors and prospects</li><li>Draft, edit, and format donor-facing content such as:<ul><li>Impact updates and summaries</li><li>Program and project descriptions</li><li>Briefing materials and background documents</li><li>Stewardship and acknowledgement content</li></ul></li><li>Ensure communications are aligned with Winrock’s mission, voice, and branding guidelines</li></ul>      4. Administrative &amp; General Development Support<ul><li>Provide general administrative and project support to the Development team including calendar management and meeting coordination</li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Development and/or the Director of Development Operations</li></ul>Qualifications and Background:Education<ul><li>Senior-level undergraduate, graduate student or recent graduate within 12 months of graduation</li><li>Academic focus in a field relevant to Winrock International’s work, such as geography, international relations, political science, climate, environment, food systems, agriculture, entrepreneurship, or a related discipline</li></ul>Skills, Knowledge, and ExperienceRequired<ul><li>Exceptional writing and communication skills (Writing example may be requested)</li><li>Strong analytical and research abilities</li><li>Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines</li><li>Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team</li><li>Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion</li></ul>Preferred<ul><li>International experience</li><li>Familiarity with utilizing AI-assisted tools and resources</li><li>Experience preparing communications materials such as brochures, pamphlets, reports, or presentations</li><li>Experience writing or contributing to grant applications or proposals</li><li>Proven commitment to pursuing a career in international development</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)</li></ul>The pay range for this role is between $21 and $26 per hour.
