Are you ready to join us?<h2 style="margin-top:16px;margin-bottom:8px;">Meet the team </h2>The Electricity team works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Pembina Institute maximizes its impact in decarbonizing Canada’s electricity sector. The team develops reports, analyzes market trends, and researches policy positions on the local, national and global economic impacts of the energy transition and energy policy.<h2 style="margin-top:16px;margin-bottom:8px;">The opportunity</h2>Reporting to the Director, Electricity, the Manager plays a key role in advancing the program’s strategy through project and initiative leadership, policy development, and cross-functional coordination. This role focuses on leading high-impact projects, influencing outcomes and working across teams and stakeholders rather than direct people management. The Manager oversees project delivery, contributes to strategic policy development, and leads engagement with government and external partners.<h2 style="margin-top:16px;margin-bottom:8px;">Your key responsibilities </h2><ul><li>Coordinate cross-functional teams and workflows to deliver high-impact projects.</li><li>Provide guidance, coaching and support to team members across electricity projects and initiatives. </li><li>Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with program objectives and strategic priorities.</li><li>Monitor program progress against goals, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of outputs and outcomes.</li><li>Support project budgeting, including planning, allocation, and tracking of resources.</li><li>Contribute to fundraising efforts, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and engaging donors and stakeholders.</li><li>Develop policy options and provide strategic advice on key electricity and climate policy issues.</li><li>Lead and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, including relationships with government, media, and external partners.</li><li>Co-manage strategic external relationships and act as a spokesperson; support media and communications activities.</li><li>Contribute to the development and execution of program strategies, plans, and communications initiatives.</li></ul>Direct and indirect leadership  <ul><li>Apply project and program leadership skills to guide team members and contractors across initiatives and the project lifecycle.</li><li>Provide mentorship and support to team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes.</li><li>Contribute to peer review and cross-team collaboration, offering insights to strengthen planning, coordination and delivery. </li><li>Represent the program in external settings, influencing stakeholders and contributing to trusted, productive relationships with government, partners and other key audiences.</li></ul><h2 style="margin-top:16px;margin-bottom:8px;">What we’re looking for</h2>You are a clear, confident communicator who can translate complex policy and technical concepts into accessible, compelling messages for diverse audiences. You take initiative, work independently, and apply strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail, grounded in a commitment to sustainability and social change.  #LI-DNI What you bring<ul><li>Minimum of five years of related work experience in a professional environment, such as industry, government, or the not-for-profit sector with a focus on the electricity sector. A combination of work experience and education may be considered. </li><li>Minimum of an undergraduate degree in sciences, business, economics, law, public policy, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is considered a bonus. </li><li>Experience in program delivery and/or environmental policy advocacy and regulatory reform within the relevant policy area, industry, or other applicable energy-sector fields.</li><li>Direct experience in developing or implementing provincial and/or federal environmental policy and regulation.</li><li>Experience as a spokesperson who can adapt to a variety of styles orally and in writing, from technical and academic reports and presentations to more informal blogs, social media posts and conversations.</li><li>Experience with providing informal coaching or mentorship. </li><li>Experience with independently leading successful projects from start to end. </li><li>Bilingualism (English and French) considered a strong asset.</li></ul><h2 style="margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:8px;">Compensation and benefits </h2>The hiring range for the position is $83,250 to $95,250 annually based on a 37.5-hour work week, with a range maximum of $107,250. Within this range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, related experience, education and/or training, and internal equity. We know that to meet these ambitious goals, our people are the core. We also know that one size does not fit all, therefore we offer employees a flexible office and home schedule that allows individuals to find an optimal balance. Our employees receive a generous paid time-off package starting with four weeks of vacation, time to cover health and wellness, professional development and offices closed annually from December 25 to January 1. In addition, we offer RRSP matching, parenthood top-ups, extended health and dental benefits, and yearly development funds.
