We strive to transform the global energy and transportation market by enabling cost effective and secure domestic battery supply. The Position: Coreshell is investigating novel methods of maximizing the performance of metallurgical grade silicon as an anode material for lithium-ion battery applications.  The project will focus on advancing battery electrode materials by optimizing their composition processing techniques, and testing in electrochemical cells. Project Goal: The project aims to study how electrode material properties and processing affect battery performance through materials characterization and cell testing.  Responsibilities:<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Formulating, preparing electrode slurries, and applying coatings to current collectors.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Assembling coin cells using optimized cathode materials.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Characterizing materials using techniques such as SEM-EDX, TGA, and particle size analysis.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Assisting with setup, testing, and debugging of new processing operations.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Analyzing data and presenting it to the team members.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Maintaining detailed experiment records.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Adhering to lab safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe work environment</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;"> </li></ul>Requirements: <ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">In process or obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Hands-on experience working in research laboratories, glovebox handling.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Creative, self-driven, “out-of-the-box” thinker with a long history of problem-solving and an ability to wear many hats.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Strong interpersonal and communication skills.</li></ul> Desired experience:<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Experience with coin cell building and electrochemical analysis. </li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Experience with material analytical techniques.</li></ul> Location &amp; Benefits: On-site in San Leandro, CA.
