This role supports the identification and development of future network requirements, enabling delivery of Net Zero commitments. Also responsible for developing high-quality engineering submissions to Ofgem.<ul><li>Develop and implement internal policies and processes to align with GB system planning frameworks and licence obligations.</li><li>Represent SPEN in engagement with NESO, Ofgem, other TOs, and industry stakeholders to influence transmission network development.</li><li>Contribute to industry outputs (e.g. FES, ETYS, NOA, Business Plans) and participate in working groups and collaborative initiatives.</li><li>Apply technical and commercial innovation to maximise value and manage risk in planning activities.</li><li>Preparation and coordination of engineering proposals for Ofgem, ensuring compliance and clear justification.</li><li>Ensure all outputs meet governance standards and are supported by robust evidence and engineering rationale.</li><li>Promote safety, quality, and environmental excellence across all activities.</li></ul>What You’ll Bring<ul><li>Degree in Engineering or related discipline.</li><li>Significant experience in system planning, regulatory submissions, or price control frameworks.</li><li>Strong understanding of transmission network design, operation, and equipment characteristics.</li><li>Knowledge of regulatory, technical, and commercial frameworks impacting transmission networks.</li><li>Familiarity with GB industry standards and codes (e.g. NETS SQSS, Grid Code) and ESO/STC processes.</li><li>Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex topics clearly.</li><li>Proven ability to collaborate across organisations and contribute to strategic infrastructure planning.</li></ul>Minimum Requirements<ul><li>Degree qualified.</li><li>Expert knowledge of the transmission network and its technical challenges.</li><li>Experience engaging with system planning processes and ESO interfaces.</li><li>Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.</li><li>Ability to produce clear, concise reports for technical and non-technical audiences.</li></ul>What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
