AECOM is seeking an experienced Mid-level Archaeologist III to join our Cultural Resource team in New Mexico. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position that will report to the Cultural Resources Team Manager.The Archaeologist III is a core member of the Cultural Resources Program with responsibility for successfully executing all aspects of project implementation.  The Archaeologist may serve as a Field Director or Principal Investigator, based on work experience and education, and will conduct fieldwork throughout New Mexico and potentially other southwest states, as well as prepare reports and associated analyses documenting field efforts. The Archaeologist will also support the expansion of AECOM's cultural resource presence in New Mexico, to include preparation of proposals and cost estimates, client interactions, and potentially staff supervision as the practice expands.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Leading fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping.</li><li>Authoring and coordinating staff contributions for all aspects of technical report writing to meet state and federal requirements while ensuring compliance with AECOMs quality assurance processes.</li><li>Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of technical reports.</li><li>Working both independently and under supervision of senior staff.</li><li>Supervising personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed.</li><li>Leading or assisting with project management and preparing proposal scopes and budgets.</li><li>Providing specialist technical advice on cultural resource management to clients.</li><li>Liaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders.</li><li>Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, the New Mexico Cultural Properties Protection Act, and the New Mexico Prehistoric and Historic Sites Preservation Act.</li><li>Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner.</li><li>Drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on analysis.</li><li>Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.</li><li>Working independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including occasional travel.</li><li>Being innovative and a problem solver.</li><li>Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to manager.</li><li>Participating in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new clients and projects.</li></ul>About AECOM’s Environment Business Line Join AECOM to be part of an expert global team who is connected through a well-developed, worldwide, internal technical practice network through which you can learn from and brainstorm with the best in the world.
