Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Technologist/Technician with strong expertise in electrical design, electrical contract administration, and fire alarm system verification within the Province of Alberta. This role will support engineering, construction, and commissioning activities across commercial projects. This position is for a newly created position.The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Alberta regulations, and fire alarm standards (ULC), along with strong design, coordination and field experience.Why AECOM?<ul><li>Deliver Meaningful Work: Contribute to projects that strengthen communities across Canada and beyond</li><li>Accelerate Your Career: Structured development pathways, mentorship, and progression into Project Management roles</li><li>Work with Industry Leaders: Collaborate with leading architects, engineers, and project managers</li><li>Flexible &amp; Supportive Environment: Competitive compensation, hybrid work model, and comprehensive benefits</li><li>Global Impact: Be part of a world-class team delivering complex infrastructure solutions at scale</li></ul>What you will doElectrical Contract Administration<ul><li>Administer electrical construction contracts from design through commissioning and closeout</li><li>Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submittals for compliance</li><li>Conduct site inspections to verify adherence to design, specifications, and safety standards</li><li>Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders</li><li>Monitor project schedules and progress reporting</li><li>Prepare deficiency lists and oversee corrective actions</li></ul>Electrical Design &amp; Engineering Support<ul><li>Develop and review electrical designs including:<ul><li>Power distribution systems (low/medium voltage)</li><li>Lighting and emergency systems</li><li>Control systems</li><li>Fire alarm systems</li></ul></li><li>Prepare drawings, specifications, and technical documentation</li><li>Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Alberta codes/standards</li><li>Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system coordination</li><li>Support value engineering and constructability reviews</li><li>Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, cable sizing, underground infrastructure design, lighting simulations and calculations, specifications and general project documentation</li></ul>Fire Alarm Verification &amp; Life Safety Systems<ul><li>Conduct fire alarm system verification in accordance with ULC-S536</li><li>Review fire alarm shop drawings and sequences of operation</li><li>Witness testing and commissioning of fire alarm systems</li><li>Coordinate with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), including municipal inspectors</li><li>Prepare verification reports and documentation</li><li>Troubleshoot deficiencies and ensure systems meet performance requirements</li></ul>
