We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience. About the Role – Systems Modeling EngineerPeak Energy is looking for a Systems Modeling Engineer to join our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team and work at the forefront of the development of our gigawatt-scale energy storage systems. This role will leverage deep expertise to drive major thermal and electrical architectural decisions and dive into key electrical and battery component simulation.You will work closely with design, test, validation, manufacturing engineering, and leadership to navigate our products' development — exploring broadly and diving deeply with a drive for rigorous optimization, meticulous documentation, and clear communication of findings.The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is hungry for knowledge, holds themselves and others to high standards, and brings a get-it-done attitude to every challenge — big or small. What You'll Do<ul><li>Define system and component design direction and requirements by developing detailed models of battery energy storage systems across operating modes and external conditions, including battery modules and power electronic components</li><li>Identify key performance indicators and optimize system design to enhance these metrics</li><li>Validate models with experimental data and refine them based on test results</li><li>Explore broadly and deeply, and clearly communicate assumptions, inputs, and findings</li><li>Define and spearhead selection and development of tools, infrastructure, and design practices</li><li>Interface tightly with design, test, and validation partners to inform design decisions</li><li>Drive and participate in a culture of rapid prototyping and testing</li></ul> What You'll Bring<ul><li>Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field</li><li>5–10 years of experience working with power systems (non-academic)</li><li>Experience with system-level equivalent circuit models</li><li>Strong electrical and thermal engineering fundamentals</li><li>Extensive use of MATLAB/Simulink or Python</li><li>Familiarity with high voltage battery systems or power electronics</li><li>Experience with design and manufacturing of medium to high volume products</li><li>Hands-on prototyping, validation, and testing experience</li><li>Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation</li><li>Eligible to work in the U.S.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>High voltage battery and power electronics experience</li><li>Utility-scale energy storage systems experience</li><li>Supervisory control simulation experience</li></ul>Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
