Job Overview We are hiring for a Director of Software &amp; Control Engineering who will develop and grow a world-class global team of Software and Control Engineers to accelerate our product development and support customers on integrating Turntide’s products into their applications with modern state-of-the-art software design practices and methodologies. The role will be based at either Gateshead in the UK or Waterloo, Canada and report into the VP of Engineering and will involve moderate travelling. Key Responsibilities<ul style="margin:16px 0px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-size:11pt;line-height:1.38;"><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Leading and developing (including hiring) our Global Software &amp; Control Engineering function and adopting the State- of-the-Art design and validation practices or methodologies.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Taking full ownership and be accountable for Software &amp; Control Engineering function’s output to support both development and customer projects across all our product lines (power electronics, motors, thermals, energy storages).</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Setting clear objectives and key results for the team and driving the team to execute and achieve them with first-time-right and staying on-time.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Driving the team to support Applications, Product, and Sales on new business opportunities with technical supporting including RFQs review/preparation, design reviews, and discussions with customers.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Supporting Operations for any manufacturing or quality issues and working with the team to resolve them in a timely manner.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Partner with global software service provider(s) for them to support our software development and deliver high-quality results.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Developing the novel control algorithm for next-generation products and increasing the automations across all activities.</li></ul>The Requirements<ul style="margin:16px 0px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-size:11pt;line-height:1.38;"><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Bachelor’s degree or above in Software, Computer Science, Electrical &amp; Electronic Engineering, or related engineering field relevant experience could also be considered.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">A Strong background in Embedded Software/System (e.g., C programming language), Control or Advanced Control.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Extensive experience of leading software or control team with 10+ years.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Experience in the whole software development lifecycle (e.g., V-model)</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Strategic thinker, able to translate requirements into executable actions and able to grow the team into a high-performing, highly motivated team.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Strong execution ability, sense of urgency and “can-do” attitude.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Dealing with customers, sales, outside service providers and other stakeholders.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Enthusiastic, flexible, and able to thrive and succeed in times of ambiguity and change.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Able travel domestically or internationally</li></ul>Bonus Points It would also be advantage (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had:<ul style="margin:16px 0px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-size:11pt;line-height:1.38;"><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Experience of power electronics products (such as motor inverters, DCDCs or chargers), vehicle/motor control, or BMS (battery management system).</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Experience of using MATLAB/SIMULINK and Atlassian software (e.g., Jira).</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Functional safety standards, such as ISO26262, IEC61508, D0178B or similar, and Cybersecurity standards, such as ISO 21434.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">APQP, or similar project milestone-based processes.</li><li style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;line-height:1.38;font-size:11pt;">Working with large OEMs or tier 1 suppliers, in markets such as automotive, rail and aerospace.</li></ul> Turntide Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
