As the Director of Technology Operations, you are responsible for leading the strategic planning and implementation of the organisation's infrastructure technology; ranging from the operating systems that manage the charging network to the selection of chargers or on-site battery systems. In this role, you will work together with procurement on supplier selection and state-of-the-art technology solutions that are key to the energy transition and success of Fastned.
You will ensure the organisation's infrastructure technology and network meets the needs of Fastned and its customers. Moreover, the speed of implementation and the technical functionalities of the systems your team delivers are key to tackling industry bottlenecks such as grid congestion.
In this role, you will develop and maintain Fastned’s infrastructure technology roadmap and continuously optimise our network of charging stations. You will explore and build understanding of technological trends to identify opportunities and build a supplier selection roadmap to ensure the organisation's charging technology is current, secure and operates at high standards. You will liaise with our Director of Product & Engineering and product leadership on bridging infrastructure technology strategy with product technology strategies, so that we continue to deliver industry-leading reliability.
You will oversee day-to-day network operations, and ensure that the organisation's policies and procedures regarding the infrustructure technology are followed. This role is critical to Fastned’s rapid expansion. Over the next five years, you will scale our technology and network to support the growth from 350 to 1,000 charging stations across Europe. You will be a major contributor to Fastned’s growth as Europe’s leading fast-charging provider.

Your responsibilities include:
Design and lead a multiyear strategy for the infrastructure technology opportunities, improvement & deployment. Select core technology and key suppliers to ensure our network is de-risked by developing a good supplier pipeline. Lead supplier contacts, provide input from Fastned for hardware and software developments
Manage and evaluate the performance of the Infrastructure Technology & Network operations’ teams. Inspire your team and lift network operations to the next level, by driving high quality standards at our charging stations, industry leading success rate (e.g. 100% uptime)
Successfully manage the Fastned overall network performance and automate the Network Operations Centre to maintenance: fault detection, remote issue detection and resolution, creation of jobs, in close alignment with the product teams building internal charger station management solutions.
Drive and automate new charger configurations upgrade
Drive continuous improvement for technology operating systems and processes by partnering efficiently with internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with suppliers for issue resolution and partner with our product engineering team on our charging management systems and any other systems improvements
Drive the Energy sourcing strategy and support the team to close energy supply agreements and PPAs. Build local support in our largest markets, facilitating cooperation with the local teams.
Effectively collaborate with the different functional departments and local markets to collect network & technology feedback and jointly work towards optimal network performance
Drive compliance with organisational standards and local legal regulations related to the technology at our stations
What you bring
Master in Engineering (e.g. electrical engineering)
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a technology leadership role, leading a team, ideally in a fast pace rapidly scaling industry
Ability to influence the evolution of the industry from a technological point of view
Proven capability to initiate the technological change process and to energise it on an ongoing basis. A strong understanding of charging technology trends and advancements is a plus
A sharp analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Great at bringing people along on the journey - exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep things moving.
Main Language: English. Any additional European language is a plus German, French, Dutch
