The Drafter/Design Engineer is responsible for working with department managers and engineers to create concepts/designs for new (and modifying existing) systems/components, and also production on process improvements, new tooling, and fixtures.


You will make an impact in this role by:

  • Producing drawings of mechanical/manufactured parts.
  • Develop new CAD models.
  • Update and change existing CAD models.
  • Create 2D and 3D models.
  • Work with SAP - material setup, BOM, routings, etc.
  • Apply internal practices and processes along with industry standards (ANSI, ASME, etc.).
  • Provide design solutions that are mindful of form, fit, function, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other departments on projects.
  • Update existing drawings and documents packages.
  • Help maintain bill of materials, material set up, drawings, and other controlled documents and packages.
  • Manage change management system (such as ECN's).

Requirements


To be considered for the Drafter/Design Engineer role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Associates degree from a two-year college required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience creating drawings of mechanical/manufactured parts.
  • Ability to apply principles of math, logic, or science thinking to a wide variety of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Must be able to understand blueprint information.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
