About the Job
About Odys
Our mission at Odys is simple - we build safe, sustainable aircraft to cut travel time in half on the world's busiest corridors. Our flagship aircraft Alta enables travelers to skip the big-airport hassle by using city helipads and local airports to connect cities less than 1,000 miles apart (approx 40% of flights). And on average cut CO2 by 76% on tens of billions of flight miles globally.
To get there, we start with our UAV called Laila for commercial logistics, medical transport, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and defense missions. We’re deploying aircraft with launch partners (Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, US Navy) beginning in late 2025 and already have firm orders for aircraft under contract.
We’re a team of expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace that focus on fast iterations loops (completed transition flight faster than our peers) combined with mastery of the aircraft certification process. Previously, our team developed custom drones, brought multiple automotive platforms into production, and electrified transportation vehicles that magnetically levitate, that roll, that fly. Together, we’ve been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge our entire lives.
About The Role
Are you passionate about cutting-edge aircraft and how to ensure the system design meets required safety and reliability? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where trade-offs, system optimization, and cross-functional collaboration shape the future of aviation? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Design Assurance Engineer.
You will support the Chief Engineer in optimizing and refining the overall aircraft and system architecture. You will play a key role in system engineering trade-offs, requirements management, and process optimization while closely collaborating with the Multidisciplinary Optimization (MDO) & Design Team. Your contributions will help enhance system efficiency, improve workflows, and ensure the seamless integration of engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
The Design Assurance team is responsible for ensuring that aircraft, supporting systems, and operations meet or exceed design requirements and lead to safe, regulatory approved aircraft products. This role works with teams across design, structures, propulsion, avionics, software, and safety.
Co-lead system-level trade-offs, align aircraft design with system requirements, and ensure compliance with ARP4754B.
Implement and maintain engineering tools like Flow Engineering, RQA Quality Studio, System Composer and Capella for requirements, change tracking, and system modeling.
Lead weight tracking, change management, and system integration, ensuring structured configuration control.
Support regulatory requirements (MOCs) and integrate system safety with development assurance (DA) processes.
Work with MDO, airframe, safety, GNC, propulsion, and software teams to streamline engineering and certification workflows.
Assist in tracking schedules, budgets, and system documentation for traceability and regulatory adherence.
Required Qualifications
A degree in physics, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Exposure to systems engineering principles, trade-off analysis, and multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO).
Familiarity with change management and configuration control processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical trade-offs.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and process-driven thinking.
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and engineering collaboration tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic understanding of aircraft architectures, system safety, system reliability and system integration.
Advanced coursework or certifications in systems engineering and requirements management.
Experience with Flow Engineering, System Composer, RQA Quality Studio, and Capella for requirements tracking and system modeling is highly desirable.
Knowledge of ARP4754B or a willingness to learn and apply its principles.
Coding skills (Python, C/C++).
