Who we are looking for

Are you a creative, energetic and experienced Battery Pack Manufacturing Engineer (BPME) looking to lead the development of differentiated Lithium Ion Battery (LiB) cell, module, and pack manufacturing technology? You would collaborate with engineering resources within and in partnership with Re:Build to assemble, validate, and apply this capability to the production of pioneering LiBs; contributing to our ability to make batteries at scale domestically while considering matters of cost, yield, performance, reliability, and quality.

What you get to do

This LiB manufacturing capability will be leverage-able as a template for large-scale production in multiple form factors, and will incorporate traditional as well as advanced manufacturing capabilities. You will work closely with the rest of the Re:Build Battery Solutions  team to develop and realize Re:Build's broader strategy in the creation of a robust battery business that, in addition to cell manufacturing, may include battery raw materials and components, battery modules, packaging, and complete battery management systems. You will:

  • Establish equipment requirements and develop scale-able LiB designs
  • Develop specifications and lead RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
  • Lead engineering projects
  • Supervise the assembly and integration of the components of the LiB mfg. line
  • Develop equipment validation plans
  • Develop new manufacturing equipment suitable for a LiB battery pack production
  • Function as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new LiB manufacturing equipment

What you bring to the Team

You should possess proven experience in the innovation of LiB process development and improvement, and exhibit superior collaboration, communication and project management skills which will be vital to establish a working manufacturing capability that will serve as a platform for continued improvements. You should be:

 

  • Familiarity with Lithium-based battery technologies such as battery pack development, electrochemical/mechanical design, manufacturing, process quality control, testing, and/or qualification
  • Able to scale prototype technology to production
  • Experienced in developing layouts in AutoCAD or similar Engineering Design/Drawing programs
  • Well versed in LEAN Practices
  • Committed to Safety and Sustainability
  • Flexible, Ingenious, and Team Spirited
  • A focused project leader with strong fiscal controls

 

Additional beneficial experience and skills:

  • Experience with conveyance systems
  • PLC controls experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and/or Beckhoff)
  • Mechanical joining experience (adhesive dispense, fastening, riveting, welding etc.)
  • Battery Testing experience (leak, functional, hipot, non-contact, vision etc.)
  • Design, and/or installation of Battery Manufacturing equipment
  • Cell processing development or improvement
  • Successful product launches
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
  • Willingness to travel (domestically) <40 %
