Program Overview for Sustainable Cities and Transport

About your Role: 
 
Air pollution is one emerging as one of the major concerns for India. WRI India is working with 10 prominent cities of India to mitigate emissions at source (construction sites, paved/unpaved roads, etc.) and to support cities to achieve National Clean Air Programme goals under WRI India’s Accelerator for Clean Air Actions (ACAAS) Program. Hence, WRI India is looking for interns to work on air quality monitoring, mapping of air pollution hotspots and data analysis of emissions in multiple cities. 
WRI India requires a self-motivated, smart, detail oriented and highly organized individual. This is a position for someone looking to work in air quality management. 
 
How Your day will unfold: 
 
You will handle a range of responsibilities. Some of the key responsibilities will include: 
  • To perform primary surveys within the city to collect data on air pollution sources identify issues across varied sectors. 
  • To perform air pollution hotspot mapping and data analysis through site visits and data analysis. 
  • To support the team in all on field air pollution monitoring, measurement, instrumental deployment, on site operations and activity data collection. 
  • To support the team in events and capacity building activities. 
  • Technical report and paper writing. 
  • Contribute to project documentation, including reports, presentations and summaries. 
  • Support team coordination and communication during field activities. 
  • Coordination for logistics and support during major events and workshops. 
  • Any other task coming from project goals. 
 
Qualifications and Requirements we are looking for: 
 
  • Master’s degree completed/pursuing in a Science subject (Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering/Urban Planning/Urban Design preferable) or a related discipline, with experience/interest in air quality monitoring are encouraged to apply. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Good writing and communication skills. 
  • Organized and detail oriented. 
  • Proficiency in GIS, Microsoft 360 is preferable. 
  • Working knowledge on data analysis and presentation tools like PowerBI, MATLAB, Python is desirable. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural, global workplace. 
  • Someone who can work independently, with little direction and guidance. 
  • Strong surveying and analytical capabilities. 
  • Ready to travel locally when needed. 
  • Interns need to bring their own laptops and arrange for internet in field (for basic communication). 
 
 
Stipend: 25000 Per Month
  
Location: General, India (Agra, Gurugram, Gorakhpur, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Indore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai) 
 
Duration: 2 to 3 months
