About the Job

Our Mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the future of electric aviation. The VX4, our fully electric, zero-emissions eVTOL aircraft, is set to redefine how we navigate the skies and establish new safety standards for flight.

We are not bound by legacy processes. Instead, we aim to reshape aerospace best practices to accelerate the transition to sustainable air travel. As we scale from prototype to a commercial enterprise, the next few years are critical to delivering on our goal of bringing the VX4 into service by 2030.

What to Expect

As an Advanced Electrical Engineer, you will join a growing team of passionate individuals whose primary focus is to design, integrate and test the low-voltage electrical distribution system, that will distribute the power to all critical systems on our fully electric VX4 aircraft.

A typical day could involve working closely with multiple system teams, developing solutions to complex installation problems. You will bring your passion for designing and integrating novel aviation products, coupled with industry experience, to deliver robust, and maintainable installation solutions.

The ability to manage technical engineering requirements and collaborate effectively across disciplines with strong communication of technical information will be crucial to your success in this role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems and experience working in aviation, aerospace, or other high-integrity engineering industries such as automotive, rail, or energy.

What You’ll Do

  • Requirements capture, validation and verification activities.

  • Create test plans and procedures and define test rig requirements.

  • Support in execution of rig and aircraft tests.

  • Analysis of test data and generation of analysis and test reports.

  • Perform aircraft electrical load analysis.

  • Supplier management and review of supplier documentation.

  • Provide input into the system safety assessments.

  • Define electrical, communication and basic mechanical interfaces to ensure safe system compatibility and integration into the platform.

What You’ll Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline with relevant industry experience.

  • Experience with systems engineering methodologies, including requirements capture, validation, and verification.

  • Knowledge of power generation and distribution systems, including architecture, functions, and performance characteristics.

  • Experience with supplier management and systems integration in complex engineering environments.

  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design tools (preferably CATIA).

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (aerospace or other high-integrity sectors such as automotive, rail, or energy).

  • A collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with aerospace certification standards (e.g. ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254).
