The Position:
 

At Mara Renewables Corporation, innovation and impact go hand in hand—and our Engineering Team plays a key role in building the foundation for our continued growth. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Co-op Student to support engineering-related projects that keep our operations running efficiently and safely. 

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of forward-thinking scientists and engineers to assist with equipment and facility maintenance planning, organize technical documentation, and contribute to the coordination of minor capital projects. This position offers hands-on experience in project coordination and operational support within a fast-paced, purpose-driven biotechnology environment. 

This position is for 16 weeks, starting September 2, 2025.

Job Responsibilities:
 

The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:  

• Actively participate in Mara’s health and safety programs, demonstrating, upholding, and contributing to the improvement of Mara’s safety culture. 
• Assist with maintenance requests and improvement projects within the facility. 
• Support project management tasks, including organizing, scheduling, and controlling project scope, time, and cost, utilizing project management tools as defined by the engineering department (training will be provided by Mara). 
• Collaborate with the engineering team and R&D scientists on new process development, pilot-plant process optimization, quality assurance initiatives, day-to-day troubleshooting, and data analysis to foster continuous improvement. 
• Collect data related to utility requirements for equipment, laboratories, and workspaces. 
• Develop and maintain an asset database for equipment and associated parts, including cost comparisons of various makes and models along with technical specifications. 
• Prepare reports and deliver formal presentations summarizing findings and project outcomes. 
• Document all work and progress made during the co-op term to ensure comprehensive records are maintained. 

Required Skills & Experience:
 

• Working towards an undergraduate degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering. 
• Comfortable working in a dynamic R&D and industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical, and operational personnel. 
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions carefully and reliably. 
• Ability to carry out multiple tasks with varying priorities simultaneously. 
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel & Word, and openness to learning new technology.
