Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Resources is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their External Reporting & Compliance team for our Juno Beach, FL headquarters. The responsibilities for the position will include the following:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures in external reporting documents, including SEC filings of XPLR, NextEra Energy and FP&L.
- Assist in financial statement/disclosure-related projects on a requested basis, including process improvement, efficiency and automation.
- Maintain knowledge of current SEC/GAAP reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Review certain external communications and financial reports for reasonableness and accuracy and to ensure compliance with Regulation FD and the SEC’s non-GAAP rules, as well as overall consistency with other company filings, communications and website.
- Documents to be reviewed include earnings releases, earnings call scripts, external presentations, including those to security analysts, and debt and equity offering documents.
- Work closely with internal and external legal counsel, investor relations, corporate finance, corporate communications, business unit senior management and key financial personnel and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare income statements and balance sheets for 10-K/Q and quarterly earnings releases for XPLR, NextEra Energy and FPL
- Prepare financial-related disclosures in SEC filings of XPLR, NextEra Energy and FP&L
- Assist in further automation of SEC reporting process
- Work closely with XPLR accounting team and FCOE areas that impact your duties
- Maintain XBRL process and controls
- Prepare and maintain Non-GAAP reconciliations
- Assist in implementation of new accounting standards related to financial statement presentation or other areas as requested
- Perform ad hoc projects, as requested
- Build productive working relationships in a positive and collaborative manner
Must Have Requirements:
- Analysis and problem-solving skills
- Communication skills (written and oral)
- Project management skills
- Work independently with little to no supervision
- Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe and PowerPoint proficiency (Workiva proficiency preferred)
Preferred Skills:
- Workiva proficiency
- CPA eligible

• Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
• Prepares schedules and journal entries
• Provides guidance and direction to other team members
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
• Experience: 4+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Master's - Business Administration
