Position Summary
Ava is seeking to hire a full-time Power Resources Contract Analyst, reporting to the Power Resources Contracts Manager. The Power Resources Contract Analyst plays a vital role in administering long-term energy procurement agreements and monitoring performance within Ava’s clean energy portfolio. As a key member of the Power Resources team, the Analyst will work within the Power Resources Contracts and Settlements team on issues related to electricity procured and settled under long-term agreements. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of project development, energy markets, and contract administration—providing insight into how renewable energy and battery storage projects are built, integrated into the CAISO grid, and compensated through the wholesale market.
The selected applicant will gain first-hand experience in how power purchase agreements (PPAs) are administered, why specific terms matter, and how they shape project execution. They will build a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, the dynamics between energy buyers and sellers, and the full lifecycle of clean power projects—from executed contracts to grid participation.
Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Data and Input Management (25%)
Maintain, organize, and update contract data including pricing, volumes, milestones, and performance benchmarks.
Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across internal systems and third-party tools.
Prepare reports and summaries that inform team decision-making and regulatory compliance.
2. Project Development Support and Developer Meeting Participation (30%)
Support the development of renewable and storage projects by tracking development milestones and deliverables.
Attend meetings with project developers, documenting outcomes, and ensuring follow-ups.
Assist with project due diligence, contract term review, and internal coordination related to project milestones.
Support project assignment as part of the Ava’s energy prepay transaction
3. Ad Hoc Contract Support & Initial Data Migration for Ironclad (15%)
Provide flexible support for drafting, reviewing, and organizing contractual documentation.
Lead or assist in the initial data migration of existing contracts into Ava’s Ironclad contract management system and support operation.
Partner with legal, compliance, and procurement teams to ensure contract lifecycle processes are efficient and complete.
4. Tracking RECs, Project Performance, and Milestones (30%)
Track project generation and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) deliveries, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements and report across the Power Resources team on progress.
Monitor project performance and key milestones, flagging delays or deviations.
Coordinate with the settlements and analytics teams to reconcile REC, settlements and performance data with CAISO outcomes and payments.
5. Other duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years of relevant experience combined with a Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental policy, energy, engineering, or a related field.
Experience working in energy procurement, contract management, or project coordination; experience in renewable energy is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with data tools or contract management systems (e.g., Ironclad, Salesforce, SharePoint).
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to synthesize and communicate complex information.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Self-directed, showing attention to detail and organizational skills in a highly fluid and rapidly changing environment.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position is $106,094, with a Total Compensation of up to $112,459 annually based on performance.

Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Wednesday of the month. We are not providing sponsorships currently.

Licenses/Certificates
