Junior Operations Manager
About the Job
At Bike Club, we offer subscriptions for children's bikes that grow with your kids. Families pay a monthly fee, and when their children outgrow their bikes, we exchange them for a larger size. We refurbish the used bikes and make them available to other families. It's sustainable and hassle-free.
With over 80,000 bikes, we are the second-largest bike rental network globally, and the largest in the children's bike sector. With over $50 million in funding, we are rapidly expanding across Europe. While our headquarters is in the United Kingdom, we are already active in Germany and Austria.
What We Are Looking For: We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our production workshop. You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, driving team performance, maintaining fleet quality, and continuously improving processes.
Tasks
- Workshop Operations: Lead daily production and quality performance in the workshop, ensuring efficiency and KPI achievement. Report progress to the Site Manager and drive accountability across the team.
- Stock & Supply: Collaborate with the Merchandising Team to maintain stock levels in the online store and a continuous supply of spare parts and consumables.
- Quality Control: Uphold Bike Club’s standards by managing QA processes, conducting audits, and ensuring all bikes meet delivery readiness.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to boost productivity, reduce errors, and streamline operations. Document key processes for consistency.
- Team Management: Lead and support the workshop mechanic team, alongside the Mechanic Supervisor. Deliver training programmes focused on technical upskilling and career progression.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Site Manager, Logistics Lead and other teams for seamless operations. Act as a point of escalation for operational challenges and opportunities.
- WMS & Tech implementation: Oversee ongoing development of the Warehouse Management System and embed improvements into daily workflows.
- Positive & safe environment: Promote a safe, positive, and compliant working culture.
- Keyholder responsibilities: Participate in keyholder duties, including alarm call- out list.
What Success looks like:
- Workshop production consistently meets or exceeds weekly and monthly targets.
- Processes are running smoothly with minimal bottlenecks, errors, rework, or any delays.
- Inventory coverage is maintained in collaboration with the Merchandising team minimising stock-outs.
- The fleet maintains a consistently high-quality standard with a defect rate of less than 1.5%.
- Reduce backlog, achieving an average turnaround of 30 days for received bikes.
- Create a positive, high- performing workshop culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Clear, data-driven updates are regularly shared with leadership – issues are flagged early with proposed solutions.

- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing teams.
- Data-driven with experience analysing performance metrics and driving operational KPIs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to compile reports by pulling together data from multiple sources.
- Comfortable working with technology and systems, including Slack, Salesforce, MS Office, and Warehouse Management Systems.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

About the Company

Bike Club

At Bike Club, we believe in inspiring the next generation to fall in love with cycling. Kids deserve the opportunity to learn the life changing skill of riding a bike, and they deserve to do that on bikes that are the right size for them.

Our model
We are a bike subscription service that offers high quality kid’s and adult’s bikes for a monthly fee. This means that, once a child has grown out of their bike (which happens rather frequently throughout their childhood!) the bike can be exchanged for a bigger one.
Pre-loved bikes that are exchanged come back to our expert mechanics who refurbish them to industry leading standards before they return to our fleet ready to be ridden and loved by a new family.
This model reduces the demand for the manufacture of new bikes as well as reducing the amount of kids bikes that end up in landfill. It also allows parents to spread the cost of having bikes for their children.

Our model and the environment
Our model supports a circular economy and offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to consumers. As of January 2023, we are a Certified B-Corporation meaning we are part of a movement that is using business as a force for good.

Our Story
Bike Club was founded by a young, bike-loving couple living in London, who thought there must be a better way to pay for consumer goods, such as kids bikes, that didn’t involve ownership or traditional retail finance. They founded Bike Club in 2016 when they began renting out bikes to family and friends while experimenting to find the optimal business model. They settled on a hire-exchange solution and received a full consumer credit licence from the FCA.
They were overwhelmed with the number of orders they received once they launched. With already over 40,000 members, Bike Club has since become one of the world's largest bike rental networks, connecting sustainability-minded consumers.
