About the Job

Description

Who we are:

EDAG Production Solutions is your perfect partner for the planning, design, optimization and implementation of production plants and of the product development networked with them.

With a workforce of approx. 1,300 employees, and the knowledge and experience we have gained over several decades, we are multi-disciplinary innovators in the development of production plants. We are familiar with the challenges, legal requirements and, of course, all relevant issues relating to our customers’ production, and are able to provide optimum advice and active support for the reorganization or optimization of their plants. As engineers, we speak the same language as our customers and understand their problems and requirements.

It goes without saying that we are fully committed to cost efficiency and the use of state-of-the-art processes and technologies. We transfer this know-how equally to our three business fields: for automotive solutions, industrial solutions and mobility solutions. Worldwide.

This is how you will grow:

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified Electrical Safety Engineer to lead the review, approval, and safety validation of electrical systems related to equipment set-up, design, and installation. This role ensures that all equipment installations meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications before energization. The Electrical Safety Engineer will collaborate closely with design teams, OEM vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and ensure safe operations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Installation Review:
    • Review and approve electrical system designs, schematics, and installation plans for new equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and relevant local/national codes.
    • Perform design hazard analysis and validate grounding, overcurrent protection, and fault current coordination.
  • Equipment Set-Up and Buy-Off:
    • Witness and approve equipment set-up, terminations, control systems integration, and power-up activities.
    • Authorize energization and commissioning of equipment after confirming compliance with safety and technical standards.
    • Serve as the final authority on safe-to-energize status and issue electrical safety sign-off documentation.
  • Installation Oversight and Field Verification:
    • Perform on-site inspections of electrical installations (panels, disconnects, cable trays, raceways, etc.).
    • Coordinate with OEMs and contractors to resolve non-conformances and track punch list items to closure.
    • Verify that Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) devices, warning labels, and arc flash boundaries are correctly installed.
  • Risk Mitigation and Safety Leadership:
    • Lead or support incident investigations related to electrical systems.
    • Evaluate and approve temporary power and grounding setups during construction.
    • Support arc flash and short-circuit study reviews, ensuring labels and PPE requirements are implemented.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain records of inspections, approvals, deviations, and field changes.
    • Support EHS audits and regulatory inspections by providing electrical safety documentation and responses.
    • Update electrical safety procedures and commissioning checklists as needed.

Work Environment

  • Industrial/manufacturing environment with active construction zones.
  • Field-based role with regular site walks and inspection duties.
  • Must be comfortable using PPE and working around live systems (with proper lockout procedures).
