Investment Principal/ Partner (m/w/x)

As our Principal / Partner, you will play a key role in leading investment activities within our climate tech focus. You will source and evaluate potential investments, conduct detailed due diligence, lead deals and work closely with entrepreneurs and startups to build and grow high-impact companies. This is an opportunity to drive impact while advancing in a leadership position within a mission-driven VC firm.

Tasks

• Actively source new investment opportunities in the climate tech sector by networking, attending industry events, and leveraging personal contacts.
• Lead and execute detailed due diligence, including financial, operational, technical, and market analyses to preparing investment recommendations and detailed reports to the Investment Committee.
• Structure investment rounds, negotiate term sheets, and work with legal teams to finalize deal documentation in collaboration with cross-functional teams within Planet A.
• Hold board mandates and represent Planet A at shareholder meetings. Act as a primary point of contact for portfolio companies and their founders, providing strategic guidance and support.
• Track and report on portfolio performance, identifying areas for growth and additional value creation.
• Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in climate tech.
• Produce insights and thought leadership to strengthen Planet A's position in the climate tech community.
• Develop investment theses and strategies within sub-sectors of climate tech and communicate these internally and externally.
• Support and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in investment roles (Venture Capital, Private Equity, or related fields), with demonstrated success in sourcing, evaluating, and closing deals.
• Hands-on experience in climate tech, sustainability, or clean energy is highly valued.
• Proven ability to manage the full lifecycle of investments and the agility to contribute from day one.
• Strong capabilities in financial modeling, data analysis, and creative problem-solving.
• A technical background and/or deep understanding of climate technologies, sustainability frameworks, and environmental regulations is strongly preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (German proficiency is an advantage), with a knack for building strong relationships and delivering compelling presentations.
• Willingness to either relocate to Berlin or travel frequently to the Berlin office.
