In support of continued safe and reliable operation of the Bruce Nuclear Station, Bruce Power currently has an opportunity for Fuelling Engineers in our Reactor Safety Engineering Division in the Reactor Fuelling section.
The Reactor Fuelling section is primarily tasked with developing reactor fueling strategies to ensure compliance with power and reactivity limits, minimize derates and maximize fuel burnup. A Nuclear Engineering / Engineering Physics background will be an asset to the required role of Fuelling Engineer.
This opportunity places the individual in a fast paced and challenging environment within the Reactor Safety Engineering Division and provides an effective learning atmosphere for both new and experienced engineers.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Section Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for fueling a reactor at either Bruce A or Bruce B.
Perform Simulation of Reactor Operation (SORO) runs and Heat Balance, review results to ensure compliance with all regulatory limits and address any issues (when necessary) in a timely manner each day.
Review/follow department procedures/processes as required.
Develop a fueling strategy to ensure compliance with power and reactivity limits, minimize derates and maximize fuel burnup.
Review Delayed Neutron Scans and Chemistry Samples/GFP data to detect and facilitate removal of fuel defects on a timely manner.
Provide Physics assessments and recommendations to support outage activities (e.g. criticality predictions, ramp up power holds, and shutdown fueling) as required.
Provide support off hours when required due to emergent plant outage, operation and fueling issues.

Demonstrated attention to details and accuracy
A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment.
Proven ability to write technical documentation.
Demonstrated the ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and heavy workloads
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet objectives.
Education and Experience
Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)
Completion of a 4 year University degree in Nuclear Engineering / Engineering Physics which contains the fundamental education requirements for this position.
An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng).
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Engineer Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)
Completion of a 4 year University degree in Nuclear Engineering / Engineering Physics which contains the fundamental education requirements for this position.
Required to be working towards a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification within 4 years.
A period of up to and including 4 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Candidates who successfully meet the Education and Experience Minimum Requirements will be eligible to participate in the selection process where further minimum requirements for the position(s) will be assessed.

Technical Knowledge and Competency in Engineering Physics.
Transferable skills (for example, effective communication, drive for accountability and results, collaboration and teamwork).
Past performance record and suitability for this position.
Proven performance in core monitoring, calibrations, or preparing fueling lists for a CANDU reactor
