Transmission Land Officer

Salary from £53,280 to £66,600 (dependant on experience)

The Land & Planning Team within Energy Networks gain the appropriate land rights and planning consents required to install and keep installed the distribution and transmission network in order for the business to deliver its statutory obligations and Business Plans.
What you’ll be doing
As a Transmission Land Officer, you will secure land rights and permissions for capital projects, ensuring asset protection and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will negotiate agreements with landowners and agents, balancing cost, programme efficiency, and legal considerations to facilitate successful project delivery.
Secure land rights and permissions for infrastructure and customer connection projects.
Ensure protection of existing assets, utilizing statutory powers when needed.
Negotiate agreements with landowners and agents, balancing financial and regulatory aspects.
Process landowner agreements efficiently to align with project timelines.
Apply expertise in infrastructure, construction techniques, agricultural practices, and land valuation.
Optimize land rights costs while ensuring smooth and timely project delivery.
What you’ll bring
Strong experience of project land consent project management, preferably being able to demonstrate experience within the utility sector or a land / energy consenting policy background
Preferably a strong understanding of the Electricity Act and a working knowledge of the Transmission and Distribution Networks and the individual components such as overhead lines, underground cables and substations
Advanced skills & understanding of both agricultural & forestry practices, land valuations, types of land rights and their function, property Law and the Compensation Code and related policy context.
Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges, including but not limited to agricultural practice mitigations in relation to works on land associated with utility infrastructure construction and the ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgment to determine options and solutions
Commercial awareness
IT literacy
Strong customer service skills
Effective project managment
Minimum Requirements:
UK Driving Licence
Experience in land, surveying, planning, property, rural, agricultural or utility areas either in delivery or a policy context
