About the Job
ICON is looking for a strategic and technically adept Senior Supply Chain Manager to lead sourcing and procurement for critical, high-value components across our next-generation Vulcan Print System. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Phoenix program with a focus on high-dollar, complex commodities; such as motors, drives, gearboxes, encoders, pumps, and sensors and work to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.
You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to ensure a robust, multi-source supply chain across all major systems (MGM, Printhead, MCU) and support core planning functions including S&OP/SIOP and Demand/Supply Forecasting. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical understanding, supplier lifecycle management expertise, and a proven ability to reduce sole-source risk while enabling speed, scale, and cost efficiency. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus and will report to our Director of Manufacturing & Supply Chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of technical commodities across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains, focusing on cost optimization and risk mitigation.
- Develop and execute category strategies that align with Phoenix production needs and ICON’s long-term vision.
- Support and enhance S&OP/SIOP and demand/supply forecasting processes to ensure accurate planning across Phoenix manufacturing systems.
- Benchmark industry trends to inform sourcing decisions, supplier development, and cost modeling.
- Establish supplier selection criteria and manage the RFQ process in close collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing.
- Enable early supplier involvement to inform product decisions and ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain resilience.
- Negotiate critical supplier agreements to secure best-in-class commercial terms, delivery performance, and flexibility.
- Manage supplier lifecycle processes including qualification, onboarding, readiness planning, and performance tracking.
- Resolve supplier-related issues impacting production schedules, including quality, lead time, and capacity challenges.
- Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team including Supply Chain Managers and Purchasing Specialists.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in supply chain management within high-velocity, hardware-centric industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, robotics, or consumer electronics).
- Strong track record of sourcing high-dollar technical components and reducing single-source dependency.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to drive DFM, cost reduction, and supply resilience.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and suppliers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working autonomously with a bias for action and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and supply chain modeling.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with systems such as Jira, Confluence, ERP/MRP, and PLM/PDM platforms.

About the Company

ICON
<p>In 2018, we told people we were going to 3D print a house and unveil it during SXSW in Austin, TX before we knew how to do it. Innovation is synonymous with risk and somebody had to take a risk. In partnership with housing non-profit New Story, we successfully delivered the world's first permitted, 3D-printed home in the world.<br /><br />Fast forward to today, ICON has 3D-printed more than 140 homes and structures across the U.S. and Mexico. We recently unveiled a new suite of technologies and products to further automate construction including a radical new robotic printer that enables multi-story construction, a new low-carbon building material, a digital catalog for residential architecture, and an AI Architect for home design and construction. Together, these technologies make our construction technology platform a faster, more sustainable way to build high-quality housing affordably around the world.</p>
