Summary
The Area Operations Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of operations for multiple BottleDrop Redemption Centers in an assigned geographical area. This position must be familiar with pertinent OSHA and Human Resources practices. Must have hiring and coaching experience to ensure a safe work environment with a focus on retention This position is also responsible for ensuring departmental productivity and performance objectives are met across assigned Redemption Centers including maintaining equipment, cleanliness of facility, loading and unloading trailers, efficient processing of materials and ensuring a positive experience for our customers. The Area Operations Supervisor will have access to a company vehicle to visit assigned Redemption Centers on a regular basis. This position required up to 25% travel between Redemption Centers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee operations for assigned geographical area of BottleDrop Redemption Centers
- Train, coach and supervise BottleDrop Supervisors and Trainers to complete daily work assignments, maintain company standards, and follow company policies and procedures
- Enforce that all OSHA Safety Standards and OBRC policies are consistently met
- Continually evaluate performance issues and discipline verbally and in writing in a fair and consistent manner
- Ensure assigned BottleDrop Redemptions Centers are providing a positive and safe environment for all associates and customers
- Oversee all areas are meeting cleanliness and safety standards for assigned Redemption Centers
- Conduct audits and cash counts to ensure accurate cash handling and verify assigned Redemption Centers are meeting operational expectations
- Screen applications, interview, select and onboard qualified candidates for BottleDrop Center positions
- Coordinate new employee orientations and safety trainings
- Review and approve team schedules and electronic timecards to stay within labor budget
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, including pre-sorts, reverse vending machines (RVMs), floor scrubber, pay station, kiosks and printers
- Oversee supply inventory and monthly supply orders
- Escalate issues to Human Resources Department with a sense of urgency including Workers Compensation claims, medical leave and accommodation requests
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Other job duties as assigned
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory/management/leadership experience, preferably in a retail or production environment
Requirements – Skills, Job Knowledge & Abilities
- Cash handling experience
- Experience working within budgetary constraints
- Experience working with light industrial equipment and conveyors
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to effectively diffuse and resolve customer and employee complaints
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally at all levels with internal and external business partners
- Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, handle frequent changes effectively and professionally, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and give excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- A current driver's license and acceptable driving history is required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
This position is performed in the office environment as well as at Redemption Center job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level at job sites can be loud.

In just the last year, we've added 14 more locations for people to return their empties, while also expanding capacity at our processing plants so that we can accommodate higher recycling rates and more container types with redemption value.
