SP Energy Networks (SPEN) has kicked off an ambitious security transformation programme to transparently reduce risk, achieve compliance with NIS regulations and deliver a cyber resilient business, and the Threat Intelligence Lead will be essential in achieving our goals.
This role will be integrated into an active and ambitious global cyber security function, contributing to SPEN’s cyber security purpose of delivering cyber resilient OT and IT, to enable a safe and reliable electricity supply to customers.
What you’ll be doing
The role will analyse intelligence and open-source information to identify, monitor, assess and counter potential threats posed by threat actors against the business and sector. The primary aim is to undertake detection engineering and develop indicators, identifying and maintaining awareness of the operating environment which can often be a changing and evolving one.
The role will collect, process, analyse and disseminate threat assessments and indicators. It will undertake risk management by mapping threats against the threat assessment relative to SPEN and the energy sector, and it will provide senior management with updates on the current threat intelligence picture relative. There will also be the chance to research new and specialist techniques, working cross industry, and helping to shape SPEN's OT LAB.
This person will be accountable for liaising and curating long term relationships with stakeholders to understand, document, prioritise, and communicate intelligence requirements. They’ll collaborate with threat detection, security monitoring, and incident response teams, providing subject matter expertise, sharing knowledge and developing/ coordinating intelligence sharing with trust groups.
Other parts of the role involve identifying and supporting the integration of threat intelligence sources, commercial or other, to ensure the organisation has robust coverage of the threat landscape they face. And supporting the Threat Detection Manager in the generation of analytic content, detection concepts, and network and host-based detection methods;
What you’ll bring
Demonstrable experience building and exploiting a central corpus of threat intelligence.
Experience setting strategy, creating and executing plans, and managing progress tracking and reporting to senior stakeholders.
A robust understanding of key principles of threat intelligence analysis, and how to communicate the impact of technical analysis to non-technical stakeholders.
An understanding of collection techniques, strategic analysis techniques, common commercial data sources, and the intelligence collection opportunities from cyber security services such as incident response, managed services and wider security projects.
Familiarity with the application of threat modelling techniques, such as the Diamond model, Kill Chain, and F3EAD.
