Job Summary

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager leader who will lead and coordinate activities sought at preventive maintenance, continuous optimization and improvement of production equipment and the physical plant. They will be responsible for minimizing machine down time due to maintenance issues, while ensuring safety in an efficient way. Core responsibilities also include direct supervision and management of maintenance activities performed by the maintenance team.

Principal Responsibilities

• Ensure a Safety-First culture and support Company’s divisional & global safety standards deployment
• Manage & develop maintenance staff effectively, optimize usage of human resources within the department, conduct annual performance reviews & appraisals and prepare personal growth plans for all employees within the department
• Schedule and maintain the preventative maintenance (PM) program
• Oversee and prioritize plant priorities pertaining to breakdowns, projects & PM’s and allocate to employees
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at creating more efficiency in the plant
• Conduct Management of Change (MOC) reviews for all new equipment purchases and improvements of existing equipment/machinery
• Manage on call program of maintenance employees to ensure plant production downtime is maintained to a minimum
• Utilize and oversee Hydra MOC Management software to ensure work orders are managed & employees are using the system accurately
• Maintain spare parts inventory and purchase maintenance items for all plant equipment and supplies
• Champion maintenance expenditure AFE’s at the plant
• Maintain contractor management program and act as an onsite project supervisor to contractors, third parties or employees for projects to run according to schedule and within the budget and preparing progress reports
• Effectively plan and manage shutdown maintenance
• Participate in scheduled audits to ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Quality standards
• Report and achieve KPI targets
• Oversee, train & support programs in relation to: Lock-out Tag out and energy isolation (Energy Control Procedures); Hot work program; Confined Spaces & Restricted Spaces; Grounding & bounding

Qualifications & experience

• Completion of College or University, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or progressive work experience in maintenance within manufacturing environment
• Trade license in Electrician or Millwright and/or Project Management certification is an asset
• 5+ years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and extensive experience with electrical, hydraulics, and mechanical work
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PM programs, CAD systems, machining, and welding
• Effective interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
