Work locations will include multiple field locations throughout the BART Metro System.ACCOUNTABILITIES:<ul><li>Conduct effective toolbox meetings and provide basic safety training.</li><li>Initiate incident notification and response, and emergency procedures.</li><li>Recognize and correct hazards.</li><li>Communicate effectively with the field staff, project leadership, and client representatives</li><li>Complete daily inspections using provided HSE software.</li><li>Support the completion of Accident, Incident, and Near Miss Investigations</li><li>Act as the Hitachi Rail HSE representative on the site.</li><li>Successfully implement and support the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) in the field</li><li>Ensure that work is being executed as planned, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources to correct and maintain solutions</li><li>Assist in the review, updating, and communication of the (HSEMS) to everyone including subcontractors</li><li>Collaborate with the craft every night in the field to encourage buy-in of our HSE management system and to support craft ownership of HSE</li><li>Provide Project Orientation and 4-Hour Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) trainings as needed.</li><li>Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, Pre Task Plans and Safe Work Practices</li><li>Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field every day based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work</li><li>Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the Construction Safety Manual (CSM) and (HSEMS).</li><li>Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics</li><li>Assist with incident investigations, and implementation of effective solution</li><li>Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions</li><li>Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, toolbox talks, OSHA/FTA standards, orientation, and client-specific requirements</li><li>Complete other duties as assigned</li><li>Perform work safely and effectively</li><li>Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies</li></ul>REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>Current CPR-FA-AED Certification</li><li>5+ Years of experience in Construction Safety and Health</li><li>Communication, presentation and training Development and Delivery Experience</li><li>Experience engaging in diverse and dynamic teams</li><li>Experience integrating into project teams and engaging stakeholders from across all disciplines in the HSE Program</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of Cal-OSHA, California EPA, Federal OSHA, USEPA, Department of Labor, and Local regulations, policies, and legislation</li><li>Experience implementing site HSE programs</li><li>Demonstrated ability to inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations.</li><li>Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and promote a harmonious safety environment.</li><li>Ability to complete written reports and electronic communications expeditiously and with a high-degree of accuracy and professionalism while in the field.</li><li>Computer proficiency with a strong knowledge of PCs and software applications related to the work, such as MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint, etc.</li><li>A valid non-probationary California Class “C” Driver’s License</li><li>Demonstrated ability to identify and take action on safety-related issues, conduct root cause incident investigations, and handle both uncomfortable and sensitive situations.</li><li>Ability to work throughout the Bay Area</li></ul>DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:- CHST Certification- CSP or BCSP CertificationsEDUCATION: Minimum of a high school diploma LANGUAGE: English ProficiencyThe salary range for this position is $97,600 to $146,400.Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.Benefits  Hitachi Rail employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including Competitive Pay, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short &amp; Long Term Disability, Life &amp; Accident Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Paid Vacation.
