POSITION SUMMARY:  The Laboratory Technician assists in performing chemical analyses of various types of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to determine compliant treatment and disposal, using a variety of analytical techniques and instruments. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:  <ul><li>Performs general laboratory upkeep and maintenance.</li><li>Helps maintain laboratory equipment and calibrates laboratory instruments.</li><li>Collects and prepares samples for laboratory analysis.</li><li>Maintains required documentation with accuracy and clarity.</li><li>Performs fingerprinting of waste samples in compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.</li><li>Performs analysis of waste samples using analytical techniques and instruments.</li><li>Prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.</li><li>Maintains and operates instrumentation in accordance with the appropriate standards.</li><li>Maintains familiarity with quality control measures and calculations required for applicable methods.</li><li>Ensures laboratory glassware is properly cleaned and maintained.</li><li>Performs a satisfactory Initial Demonstration of Capability (IDOC) prior to data reporting for any method the laboratory technician will be conducting analysis.
