This role requires the input of payroll data, auditing input from external sources, researching payroll issues, responding promptly to internal/external customers/requests and related Payroll accounting duties. You will collaborate with Payroll IT Support, Human Resources and other Cross-functional Teams.<h1>Key Responsibilities</h1><ul><li>Process Biweekly Payroll for multiple legal entities – Salary and Hourly.</li><li>Collect and verify time information from various union and non-union locations.</li><li>Ensure CBA compliance in unionized locations.</li><li>Process employee status changes including New Hires, Leaves, Terminations, Promotions.</li><li>Validate Payroll calculations are behaving as expected.</li><li>Process garnishment and union dues remittances.</li><li>Review and resolve Payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.</li><li>Prepare Payroll Journal Entries, Payroll reports for internal use, and works closely with Finance and HR teams.</li><li>WSIB/WCB remittances for relevant jurisdictions.</li><li>Participate in testing for various Payroll projects such as implementations, integrations, upgrades and system enhancements</li><li>Support year-end preparation and related statutory filings.</li><li>Prepare monthly balancing of government remittances and responding to Finance variance questions.</li><li>Reconcile benefit programs such as RRSP, 401K, health &amp; welfare plans etc.</li><li>Prepare fiscal year end balancing and related functions.</li><li>Assist Payroll Leads with audits, providing relevant records and documentation.</li><li>Identifie and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives.</li><li>Prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met.</li><li>Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and recommends best practices.</li><li>Adhere to the strictest levels of discretion and confidentiality</li><li>Assist with special projects and other duties as required.</li></ul><h1>Job Requirements</h1><ul><li>4+ years relevant experience, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) an asset but not required</li><li>Strong working knowledge of Payroll, HR and Finance best practices.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Multilingual English/French, an asset</li><li>Analytical and problem-solving ability, good judgement, independent and creative thinking with an eye for detail, critical thinking, solution orientated and defining core issues.</li><li>Customer service mindset.</li><li>Able to communicate payroll information to employees.</li><li>Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce or other third party HCM providers such Workday or ADP.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).</li><li>Planning and organizational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities within tight timelines.</li><li>US payroll experience, an asset.</li></ul><h3>IPEX is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
