About The Role We are seeking individuals to join as Performance Engineer to support the performance optimization and contractual reporting for operational battery energy storage assets throughout the USA. The Performance Engineer will conduct performance analysis and data interpretation to ensure contractual adherence for GWh of BESS assets; providing expertise to maximize asset performance while optimizing asset value. This position is responsible for ensuring improvement of systems, tools, and being a resource regarding emerging operational best practices with a critical thinking mindset and ability to investigate issues and perform data analysis to provide resolutions. Core Responsibilities<ul><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Own the operational performance engineering and reporting for esVolta’s deployed BESS, focusing on system performance improvement.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Evaluate asset performance against contractual commitments during execution and operation phases, and create baseline reports.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Support the development of technical performance contract language for EPC agreements.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Develop software to generate actionable insights from performance data using data mining and statistical analysis techniques.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Conduct computationally efficient exploratory data analysis, anomaly detection, and projection methodologies.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Develop systems to automatically detect performance degradations and correlate them to specific causes and improvements.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Create systems for automatic reporting of Energy Storage health and deploy interventions based on management by exception criteria.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Collaborate with Operations Engineering to identify and resolve technical issues, working closely with the Asset Management Team and equipment suppliers to address system deficiencies or malfunctions.</li></ul> Quality Assurance<ul style="margin-bottom:11px;"><li style="margin-left:8px;">Consolidate energy production and financial model inputs and analysis to support performance-related aspects of power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, interconnection agreements, and equipment warranties.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Validate performance against base case financial assumptions.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px;">Review technical documents and acceptance test results, comparing them to contractual standards.</li></ul> Safety<ul style="margin-bottom:11px;"><li style="margin-left:8px;">Assist with incident analysis as required. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px;">Create and assist in the generation of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and HMA (Hazard Mitigation Analysis).</li></ul> Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul style="margin-bottom:11px;"><li style="margin-left:8px;">3 years of experience in energy storage.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">ABET accredited bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Engineering and/or data science.
