We are a small, agile legal team seeking a strong transactional attorney looking to develop a broad skillset in an entrepreneurial, roll up your sleeves environment. You are equally comfortable advising on negotiation strategy as contributing to the administrative tasks necessary to keep a legal department running efficiently. You are more utility infielder/swiss army knife than position player/specialty tool. You are passionate about electrification and working with mission-driven colleagues, and comfortable diving into unfamiliar territory. This role reports directly to the General Counsel.<h2>About You</h2><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul style=""><li>J.D. from an accredited law school and member of the California Bar in good standing</li><li>5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (3+ years in U.S. law firm)</li><li>Significant experience reviewing, negotiating, and executing a wide range of commercial agreements</li><li>Track record of building strong relationships and successfully collaborating with teams throughout the organization</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Self-starter with proven ability to achieve results and work independently</li><li>Comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving workplace</li><li>Intellectually curious with a sense of humor</li><li>Value diversity and inclusion</li></ul><h3>Bonus Qualifications</h3><ul style=""><li>2+ years as in-house counsel</li><li>Experience developing and managing intellectual property portfolios</li><li>Proficiency in Ironclad or other contract management platforms</li><li>Experience working with teams focused on hardware manufacturing, supply chain, SAAS, and customer support</li><li>Understanding of electricity distribution grid, utility regulation, and virtual power plants</li><li>Experience advising companies developing AI or incorporating AI into their business practices.</li></ul><h2>Life at SPAN</h2>Headquartered in San Francisco’s vibrant SoMa neighborhood, we are an eclectic group of creative thinkers who value open communication, teamwork, and a ‘make it happen’ approach to addressing complex challenges. SPAN embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way.
