At Hitachi Global Air Power, you will be part of a global network that is shaping the future of industrial power.Summary of the position:The Fabrication Assembler position requires an individual to perform several duties as defined within the Assembly family.This position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power manufacturing plant in Michigan City, Indiana and reports to the Production Supervisor.Duties and responsibilities:<ul><li>Read, interpret, and follow basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble steel panels, doors, and supports.</li><li>Utilize handheld tools such as a rivet gun, hand-held screw, and drill gun.</li><li>Perform work for loading and/or unloading parts on the powder coat line.</li><li>Perform work for spot weld/PEM machine.</li><li>Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.</li><li>Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.</li><li>Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.</li><li>Safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.</li><li>Safely execute daily production, quality, and on time delivery requirements.</li><li>Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly at each shift.</li></ul>Qualifications:Education:<ul><li>High School education or equivalent</li></ul>Professional experience:<ul><li>Minimum of 1-3 years’ previous manufacturing assembly preferred.</li><li>Basic computer skills required (ie. Spreadsheets, data entry, email)</li><li>Understand basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures.</li><li>Basic reading skills necessary to perform the functions of the job.</li><li>Working with various hand and pneumatic tools and various measuring tools.</li><li>Ability to read blueprints.</li></ul>Key behaviors:<ul><li>Lifting up to 35 lbs.</li><li>Lifting over 35 lbs. or assistance from another associate.</li><li>Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reaching, kneeling and working in awkward positions, lifting over your head at times.</li><li>Safety Requirements:<ul><li>Must understand and comply with the 5 Cardinal Rules.</li><li>Participate in EHS quarterly audits, if required.</li><li>Required to wear the proper PPE equipment for the work area.</li><li>Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.</li><li>Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.</li></ul></li></ul>Direct reports:<div><ul><li>N/A</li></ul></div>The successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
